6 EXT. MARKET - DAY 6

Having finished quite an emotional purchase with the buyer

of amphorae (sounds scraps of abuse and mutual insults),
the CAPTAIN approaches GNEI and the sailor standing by the
cart.

CAPTAIN
(further on in Latin)
Seems that everyone here just went
crazy because of this volcano.

The CAPTAIN gives GNEI some coins received from the

merchant.

CAPTAIN (CONT'D)
Buy some more food, and something
decent.

The CAPTAIN puts another couple of coins in GNEI's hand.

CAPTAIN (CONT'D)
We will have passengers.

The CAPTAIN looks along the trading rows at the smoking in

the distance volcano.

On board, in addition to the CAPTAIN and his crew, three

servants, whom GNEI saw at the market. When he has finished
dealing with the sail, GNEI walks past the servant sitting
on the deck, muttering to himself prayerfully.

GNEI
It seems that going out to sea
does not bring you joy?

The servant, as if he did not hear GNEI's words, continues

to pray in a distant manner.

GNEI looks at two female servants sitting on the deck,

approaches the container with water.

GNEI (CONT'D)
Seems that Your master does not
travel too often.

GNEI, walks to the container, takes off the lid, scoops up

some water with a bucket, brings it to his lips, takes a
few sips. Seeing the gaze of one of the female servants in
his direction, he approaches her, hands her a bucket of
water, but realizes that she is not looking at him. At
that moment, the shadow covers the boat and all surrounding
space. GNEI turns to look at the direction that the servant
was looking, a majestic and frightening picture of the
erupting volcano reveals in front of his sight.

9 EXT. SEA. STORM - NIGHT 9

In continuous flashes of lightning, one can see how huge
waves roll across the ship's deck. The CAPTAIN, standing
at the steering oar, struggling to keep his balance, tries
to keep the bow of the ship against the insane waves.

After a moment, without even having time to shout for help,
they disappear in the seething sea.

CAPTAIN
(Trying to over
shout gusts of
wind)
Cut down the mast, or else it will
roll us over.

GNEI rushes to the aft hold, flips the hatch cover, and
rolls downstairs.
