The promising gifts of beekeeping are implicated by the efforts of Leading Agencies and Institutions in
the Philippines associated with the industrys continuous research and development. The National
Apiculture Research and Development (NARTDI) and UPLB Bee Program are the two leading government
organizations involved in the development of beekeeping in the Philippines. In support to these lead
agencies, SUCs are also involved in the conduct of research and development. These are the following:

In Cagayan Valley, three (3) state college and universities are involved in beekeeping, these are the
Isabela State University the Provincial Apiculture Center of Isabela, the Cagayan State University
Regional Apiculture Center and the Quirino State College.

Their pursuit for the development of the beekeeping industry shows that it has a potential that not
could only raise profits but also could create welfare for the Filipinos.

Creation of Job Opportunities

Cultivation and Processing of Honeys and other products derived from apiaries are mainly

Philippines, projected employment opportunities in the bee industry is 100% success rate or
over 40,000 total direct and indirect jobs was generated.

started his beekeeping with two colonies in mid-1970s and now one of the big producers of honey bee
products with average sales of 1 Million per day. He said that the challenge in beekeeping lies within the
desire of the owner to pursue greatness.
