COMPELLED TO BELIEVE OR BELIEVE

Have you been compelled to believe or do you believe in God easily?

This question is a good question when you try to know, if you believe in God easily or

you need to be compelled; during the last week I was wondering about the importance of

being compelled in some way or just believe, so I was trying to know how to show you what

the difference between this two points is, because I know that believe without some, or a lot

of compulsion is better.

The first part being compelled to believe; I remember some experience when I try to

convince with my words to an Evangelistic Minister, and also I remember that he wanted to

see proofs of my speaking, I was trying to convince him, but all was in vain; even when I

used many arguments to help him to test with my words, He wanted to stay in his belief.

The second point is the following; I invited to some family to read and to ponder in

their hearts if my words are true; when I returned to visit them they had prayed to know more

truth and they were waiting for more information to believe.

These two experiences are very different, but there are a common patron of action; this

is the desire in the heart; the disposition to believe is the central part of this great topic, the

willingness to accept new truth has a great influence when you want to believe in God.

I could see this patron in the words of a great servant of God called Alma;

He says; And now, as I said unto you, that because ye were

compelled to be humble ye were blessed, do ye not
suppose that they are more blessed who truly humblethemselves because of the word?
Yea, he that truly humbleth himself, and repenteth ofhis sins, and endureth to the end, the s
ame shall beblessed
yea, much more blessed than they who arecompelled to be humble because of their exceedi
ng poverty. (Alma 32:14-15)
He explains clearly what is the difference between this two behaviors and put the
behavior of the humble in believing higher than the compelled to be humble unto the
believing; I can notice in my own life that to believe in a humble way is a great gift that
Our Father in Heaven shares with the penitent. In the other hand the non-penitent is
compelled to be humble unto the believing this is a common way that Our Father shows his
love; Helping us to believe by situations that bring us to be humble, and the main reason is
that in mayor of times the man is not humble to believe.
I want to invite to you my respectable reader to test my point that was shared with
wise and inspired men in all times in history and to ponder if this humbleness will bring
you to know if believing is better without compelling; all the prophets in the scriptures have
talked about the principle of agency to act without any compelling force but with the
humble desire to believe and to proof the existence and reality of God.

One quote from Elder Eyring could summarize this essay; When you demonstrate
your willingness to obey, the spirit will send you more impressions of what God would
have you do for him.
