Dear Parent/Guardian,

I, Shawna Kay Williams-Pinnock, am pursuing a Master of Education in Language Education at The

University of the West Indies.

In partial fulfiment of the programmes requirements, I must conduct a research for the course
Introduction to Qualitative Research. I would be grateful if you could permit me to examine your
childs/wards English language notebooks in order to identify the writing assessments that he is
assigned in class and how these are evaluated by his teacher. All data collected will be kept confidential.
