For Wearing Rudraksha

1. For the first time it is to be worn only on the days of Eclipse(grahan), Solstices (around 21st June & 22nd December
every year) , meeting point of day & night (daily), dark moon day (Amavashya) or full moon day (Purnima).

2. While wearing rudraksha mala on various parts of body one should chant the given Mantras. It is also advisable
to chant Mahamritunjay Mantra along with the above mantras. The mantras should be chanted as many times as
possible.

3. Great benefits will be obtained by the wearer if one chants Panchakshari Mantra alongwith Beej Mantra of
individual mukhis of the rudraksha beads that one is wearing.

4. It is mentioned in classical texts that never use it (rudraksha) while you are impure. Unfortunately there is no
mention of instances or conditions whereby a person is supposed to be impure. According to me impurity is
always in the mind and not the body. Hence there is no need to remove the rudraksha beads while going to
toilets, funerals, menustral cycles (for ladies) etc.

5. Wearer of rudraksha should abstain from taking alcohol, meat, onion, garlic. Please note that it is recommended
that such food should not be consumed due to some unwanted properties present in these eatables. However
this is not a case for not wearing Rudraksha if one consumes these foods. The option is whether to abstain from
these eatables and not whether to wear Rudraksha or not. Rudraksha has to be worn at any cost to derive its
benefits. A simple solution for this would be to take of the beads while consuming such eatables.

6. Never use rudraksha which is worn by another.

7. The benefits of bathing in the Ganges can be obtained by washing ones head over rudraksha beads or in short
while taking bath with the beads on. However for doing this it is advised to buy a 5 mukhi mala to serve this
purpose. The normal mala with higher mukhis can be removed while bathing because if daily baths are taken
then the thread will have to be changed frequently.

8. Rudraksha should be worn at all times on the body. Only exceptions to be made are while sleeping and taking
bath/swimming etc. since the thread can face breakage issues if worn while sleeping or bathing or while in water.
Otherwise in all cases Rudraksha should be worn at all times during day and night. If one removes during night it
is advised to keep the same under the pillow or as close to the body.

For Maintenance of Rudraksha

1. Buy and keep two brush and coconut oil / mustard oil / sandalwood oil.

2. Every week or every fortnight take one brush and some milk and clean the Rudrakshas with milk thoroughly.
Once it is cleaned dry the beads in normal air. Once dry apply coconut oil / mustard oil / sandalwood oil with the
second brush. Keep the Rudrakshas to soak off the oil which might take 5-6 hours or one night. Once done it
should be worn back.
