Christopher Schwarz is the pub-
lisher at Lost Art Press, the former
editor of Popular Woodworking
Magazine and Woodworking Maga-
zine, and he teaches hand-tool wood-
working at schools around the world.
He began woodworking at the
their first home on their farm outside
Hackett, Arkansas, using hand tools
because they had no electricity. After
studying journalism at Northwest-
ern University and The Ohio State
University, Chris became a newspa-
per reporter, while studying wood-
working at night at the Univeristy
of Kentucky. He joined the staff of
Popular Woodworking Magazine in
1996 as managing editor, worked his
way up to editor and helped establish
Woodworking Magazine in 2004.
Hes also hosted numerous
DVDs on hand tools for both Popu-
lar Woodworking and Lie-Nielsen
Toolworks.
After writing his first book,

Chris and a partner established Lost
Art Press LLC, a business that pub-
lishes books on traditional wood-
working techniques, including The
Anarchists Tool Chest, The Joiner
and Cabinet Maker The Essential

Roubo on Marquetry.
Chris remains an avid wood-
worker, building projects for his Lost
Art Press books, Popular Wood-
working, his family and occasionally
for sale. When hes not woodworking Steve Shanesy was one of the found-
or teaching others about the craft, ers of Woodworking Magazine and
hes cooking or editing. part of Popular Woodworkings staff
He lives in Fort Mitchell, Ky., for 19 years, serving as editor and
with his wife, Lucy, who is also a publisher during that time. Steve is
journalist, and his two children, an avid woodturner and also likes
Maddy and Katy. to make contemporary furniture.
In his retirement, hes spending as
much time as possible in the shop
with his son.

Megan Fitzpatrick is the editor of
Popular Woodworking and was a
contributor to Woodworking Maga-
zine. She has been a mamber of the
Popular Woodworking staff since
2005, when she joined as manag-
ing editor. Already an avid DIY car-
penter, she quickly began learning
everything she could about building
fine furniture and now gravitates
toward hand tools to build 19th and
early 20th-century pieces. She is fin-
ishing her Ph.D. in English literature
and teaches journalism, composition
and literature part time, in addition
to woodworking.
Robert W. Lang is executive editor
of Popular Woodworking and was a
contributor to Woodworking Maga-
zine. A lifetime professional wood-
worker and noted author of books on
Arts & Crafts-style furniture, he also
is considered a foremost authority
on Google SketchUp and a power
user who Google consults regularly.
Glen Huey has been associated with
Popular Woodworking for 13 years
and now serves as managing editor.
In addition to his work as an editor,
author, video host and woodworking
teacher, Glen is a long-time profes-
sional woodworker, who specializes
in period reproductions.
David Thiel was a senior editor with
Popular Woodworking Magazine for
12 years before moving to our book
division. He new serves as editor for
the woodworking books and is also
responsible for our woodworking
video products..
