Teacher Professional Growth Plan

Initial Goals:

Classroom management Juggling the individual needs of students


The needs of students should come first, in the art room students are allowed to have choice in
what they want to work on. Because of this, students will be on many different pages with their
projects. Keeping track of who is on what and who has done projects will need to be worked
on. Overall this goal would lead me to having a more balanced and flowing classroom
environment.
Strategies:
- Class lists and check ins with students
- Keeping myself organized, knowing where everyone is and where they want to go
- Go to PD sessions on the topic
- Talk to other teachers on how they handle it
Timeline:
September:
- Building rapport
o Talk to students
o Set up initial work plans
o Where the student wants to take their art work
- Watch other teachers rapport and manor with students (on going)
October:
- Have a check in system in place
- Students are able to guide their own learning
- A visual of what we have covered and what is next
November:
- Upkeep the classroom management
December:
- Students should naturally know what is going on and how they can help themselves in
the art room

Asking questions to promote further learning thinking deeper about concepts


Students understanding can be broadened by asking questions. It allows for myself as the
teacher to get to know them more and to formatively assess where they are as learners. People
should ways be asking questions and considering the many perspectives and elements that go
into ideas and concepts.
Strategies:
- Attended PD sessions on the topic, find resources
- Discuss with other staff members
- Identify needs of the learner

- Have class critiques
- Work with students on how they can ask questions to promote their own learning
November:
- Have students lead a critique
- Students will ask me questions
December:
- Classroom will be an open and welcoming place where students feel they can ask
questions and consider multiple elements of the artistic process
- Students as philosophers
