FOUR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE SOUTH ASIAN BAR

ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA HONORED:

Two Chosen as Best Lawyers Under 40; Two Receive the Unity Award

San Francisco, CA - The South Asian Bar Association of Northern California (SABA-NC) is
pleased to announce that four of the members of its Board of Directors will be honored for their
exceptional abilities as attorneys and their commitment in serving their community. Shirish
Gupta, President of SABA-NC, and Harmeet Dhillon, Civil Rights Chair of SABA-NC, were
selected by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) as two of the "Best
Lawyers Under 40" in the nation. Hitesh Barot, Chair of External Development, and Khurshid
Khoja, Board Member at Large, were selected by the Minority Bar Coalition (MBC) to receive its
Unity Award.

Each year NAPABA selects its "Best Lawyers Under 40" to recognize talented individuals within
the Asian Pacific American legal community under the age of 40 who have achieved prominence
and distinction in their fields of endeavor-be it the practice of law, academia, business, civic and
charitable affairs, the judiciary, or politics-and have demonstrated a strong commitment to civic or
community affairs.

"Having two individuals chosen from one regional bar association for this prestigious award is no
common occurrence," said Supriya Sundarrajan, Director of Communications of SABA-NC.
"Shirish has skillfully guided SABA-NC as President for the last year and will do so again this
year, and Harmeet, in her role as Civil Rights Chair, just recently helped ensure that a recent hate
crime in the Lake Tahoe area was vigorously prosecuted. It is great to see that both of these
dynamic lawyers who have shown steadfast dedication to the South Asian community are getting
the national recognition that they so richly deserve."

The MBC is a coalition of more than 20 Bay Area mainstream, specialty, ethnic and minority bar
associations working together on issues of law and social justice. Each year, the MBC selects
winners of its Unity Award to salute the significant contributions made on behalf of the community
and in the name of unity.

"It comes as no surprise that Hitesh was chosen to win the Unity Award this year," said Zer Iyer,
Vice-President of SABA-NC. "As one of the co-chairs of the North American South Asian Bar
Association 2007 Convention and throughout his time on the Board, Hitesh has made it a priority
to find common ground and create connections with the minority bar associations here in the Bay
Area. His current role as Chair of External Development is a natural extension of his firmly held
belief in the power of coalitions."

"Khurshid has dedicated himself to creating a broader and more connected minority legal
community in the Bay Area since law school," said Nina Paul, Secretary of SABA-NC. "We are
excited to see that the Minority Bar Coalition has chosen to recognize Khurshid this year for all
his work-- especially on behalf of the Bay Area Association of Muslim Lawyers, the Asian Law
Caucus, and our organization."

Mr. Gupta and Ms. Dhillon will be honored at the NAPABA Convention being held in Las Vegas
from November 15-18. Mr. Barot and Mr. Khoja will be honored at the MBC's Unity Conference
being held in San Francisco on October 19.

"South Asian attorneys continue to make their mark within the greater legal community for both
their skills as attorneys and their remarkable devotion to their community," said Vidhya
Prabhakaran, Endorsements Chair of SABA-NC. "The South Asian community in Northern
California is blessed to have so many of its current bar leaders recognized for their abilities and
contributions over the years, and can be assured that SABA-NC will continue to effectively serve
the community as South Asians face new challenges and reach new heights in Northern
California and beyond."
