1. The Desert Flower: Waris Dirie

Waris Dirie is a woman who was born in Somalia, her name means Desert flower She is part
of a nomadic tribe. His childhood was very difficult, she had a traditional life. Part of these
traditions is the female circumcision, it implique that when a woman has thirteen years old or
less, their sexual organs are removed from her. In their teenager, their father wanted to force
her to get married with a man more older than her, but she does not wanted to get married and
finally escaped with help of their mom. For muchs days she walked in the desert to arrive to
Mogadishu, there she lived with their sister for a short time. She moved to London to work with
a Somali family but when they returned to Somalia, she stayed working in McDonalds.

One day, she met a phographer who suggested her to be a clothest model and for 1997 she was
very well-known in fashions world, working for companies like LOreal, Levis, Revlon, and
Chanel.

Finally she decided to speak about their childhood and their live in a book. This book became a
bestseller.

She started the The Desert Flower Foundation to speak about the dangers of the female
circumcision, the Unhygienic conditions, the diseases and the pain that it bring to the womens.

At the age of 13, Waris Dirie could not have imagined the life she has now.

2. Malala Yousafzai: One Voice for Education

Malala Yousafzai is Pakistani women. She lived in Swat Valley until 2012. She is a activist about
the women's rights in special about the women education no matter where they will live. Before
Taliban take control of Swat Valley in 2008, the women were able to study but in January 15th
of 2009, the extreme Islamist group declared a ban on women and girls education. Malala using
a fake name to protect their family, uploaded their diary to internet, especifically the BBC news
to tell all world all abuses that taliban were commeting.

Eventually the Pakistani governament toke the control of Swat Valley. In this time period Malala
became a famous person all over the world for their corage and bravery being only a girl. She
started a school for women in her birthplace, however the islamic group consider her how a
menace, and they tryied to kill her when she was in the school bus. She survived and moved to
live to England with thier family.

In England she keep working for the women's rights and became in a voice for Education.

She was nominated for the International Childrens Peace Prize and in 2014 won de Peace Nobel
Prize.

3. The Amazing Life of Helen Keller


Helen Keller was an American writer and educator. She was born in 1880. The history books tell
that Ms. Keller borned like a healthy child but when she had one and half years old, she was very
sick, maybe scarlet fever or meningitis. Her family believed that Helen was going to die. When
she recovered her mother discovered that Helen didn't react to noise or movement in other
words Helen couldn't see and heard.

Their childhood was difficult, she was intelligent but became a troublesome child. She had a
teacher that helped her how correlate the letters that composed the words with the things, the
teacher wrote in one of the Helen's hand the letters and Helen learned the finger's movements
and in the other hand he tryied to shown the meaning of these words. Thus, Helen learned how
to write and express their thoughts.

Helen was a famous person, she could do the same things that a normal person, in a time period
that blind and deaf people were discrimidated.

She wrote many books, much about their live and other about politic.

She died peacefully at the age of 88. Her life brought hope and courage to millions of people.
And she continues to encourage people all around the world.

4. Harriet Tubman: From Slave to Hero

Araminta Harriet Ross is the real name of Harriet Tubman, she was born in 1820 in Maryland like
a slave. The slaves in the south of United State of America was carried from Africa for work.

Harriet Tubmans owners made working her very hard. During her childhood worked like a nurse
caring childs in a farm, when she grew up she was physically strong. Tubman plowed farm fields
with oxen and carried heavy loads of wood. She got married with a slave, Mr. Tubman but they
didn't have plans to keep being slaves. She and her husband escaped to the north where the
slavery was ilegal, however she couldn't leave their family and friends being slaves, She returned
to the south to release them.

For eight years she was de driver of the Underground Railroad. The railroad transported release
slaves to the north.

In their live she led about 300 people to freedom and the people began to call her "Moses".

She fought in the civil war between the north and south of the United States of Amrica like a
spy, nurse and combatient. When the war ended in 1865, the slavery was abolished and the
afroamerican peolple could live in peace in freedom. However this people didn't have any place
and money to live. Harriet built a home for old and sick afroamericans.

Harriet Tubman died of pneumonia in 1913, at her house in New York. Her memory brings hope
to many people, especially to those who fight for justice. She encouraged people to never give
up.

5. Pel: the King of Football

Edson Arantes do Nascimento also known like king Pel, grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Their
parents didn'd have enought money for bought a soccer ball, would often play with a ball made
from old clothes filled with paper, or even a piece of round fruit.

Is the most famous football player in the history. Their fame began in the final of the World
Football Cup in 1958 when he was seventeen years old, a young man from Brazil ran down the
field, at the time, he was the youngest player ever to play in a World Cup game. In this match
he scored the goal that made Brazil the champion.

SInce this moment their fame was growing, althought he never played in a european team was
recognized how the best for many importants players all oer the world. Pel always played fairly,
and with respect to the others players.

He played four world football cup, and won three of them. He retired en 1970 like a idol for the
people and always will be known like the king of football Pel.
