Professional Goals for Practicum

1) I will improve my classroom management skills by incorporating techniques learned


from ed 2500, ones I learned throughout the first half of PSI, and ones I will learn in
practicum. Examples of different techniques I will successfully incorporate are 5, 4, 3, 2,
1; putting my hand up in silence; and using names to call attention to the front when
there are a couple students who are not noticing my instruction. This will be an ongoing
goal throughout my practicum.

2) My goal for practicum is to improve my understanding of timing & time management in


a class setting. To do this I will note how long it takes students to complete activities, and
how much time my TA allots for things. This will help me get a better feel for the flow of
a classroom, and allow me to plan more effectively for my own lessons as well. This will
be ongoing, but by December, I hope to be generally comfortable with my timing.

3) I aim to create strong and effective lesson plans. I will accomplish this by knowing the
curriculum of the subjects I will teach, constantly reflecting on student success, and by
collaborating with my TA on how I can improve. I would like my lesson plans to not only
be good quality, but be able to create them in an efficient manner. By December, my aim
is to be able to create a full lesson plan in roughly half an hour. I will measure the quality
of my lesson plans by student engagement, and quality of student work and class
discussion.
