Meeting Agenda

Present: Carolyn Clontz, Beth Hoover, Carol Elwood, Monica Melkonian, guests Nancy
Stevens, Janet Whitney, Sarah Spernak.

1. New members: Patrick DavenportMonica moved to nominate Patrick as a board member until
the election in May. Beth second. Motion passed.

2. Approval of minutes from last meetingMonica: minutes approved.

3. Traffic updates (Beth): attended the 27th street open house at Ensworth Elementary; northbound
traffic on Purcell will be closed, southbound will be kept open. Today Beth found out that on Sept
6 will submit a proposal to replace the TSAC. Applications will be accepted city-wide on the new
committee. Beth would like to have someone from Safe Passages and she also plans to apply.
Proposal will be online by the 1st.

4. Land use updates (Carol): August 17th hearing about proposed food-cart court; challenge from
Jacksons Corner/Yum Cafe building owner; increased parking; decreased the number of carts
from 8 to 6; no code-based validity to their challenge according to Carol.

5. Civic Equity Project updates (Carol): 2 things going on: goals that we developed as an
organizational plan (Facebook manager, maybe a student from MVHS, maybe MUSE group;
Sarah will check on it for us), 2 subcommittees, one for transportation and one for homelessness;
include business representatives on the board (Opportunity Knocks); senior centers and memory
care facilities? Sponsor a landlord/tenant forum (apply for rollover funds, invite landlords, invite
tenants) Beth, Sarah, Janet, Carolyn will serve on committee. Volunteer recruitment is another
categorywe went to Picnic in the Park events.

6. BPRD updates (Monica on behalf of David): Mirror Pond restoration, trail system

7. Community outreach updates

a. Facebook lead: none after two attempts to get someone signed up

b. Brochure update: We need to update and improve our brochure (Casey)

8. September NART meeting planning/prioritization of concerns: preparation of concerns for


October council meeting when we will present to the council

9. Discuss roll-over grant ideas: renter/landlord forum


10. Business continuity actions for MVNA

11. Acceptance of resignation from Deena McNeil: Carolyn moved, Carol second. Motion passed.

Traffic Calming Suggestions:

Park on one side of the street on Daggett Lane and Moonlight Drive

Build barrier near traffic circle at Jackson to stop cut-throughs from Daggett to Jackson
