Dear Ms. Rita,

I am interested in applying for a Kindergarten-level teaching position at your school. As a student in the
iTeach AZ program in conjunction with the requirements of the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at
Arizona State University, I have been given many opportunities to gain experience in the education field.
Through these experiences, I have found my passion for teaching and fostering childrens potential.
I have experience teaching students from many different grades and backgrounds. Through America
Reads, a nonprofit after school program that provides tutoring and mentorship to students in low
income communities, I was able to work with students from Kindergarten through third grade. I won
Tutor of the Month and Staff Member of the Month once I was promoted. Combined, my students
mastered over 100 Arizona Common Core Standards through the program. As Lead Tutor, I gained
knowledge on how to collaborate well with other tutors and provide support to not only the students,
but also to the staff which resulted in a positive work environment. I was also able to work with a
diverse group of students and learn tools and strategies to play to their strengths rather than focusing
on their weaknesses.
Through a university service learning internship, I was able to see the benefits of having a Montessori
approach to teaching. I interned at HeartPrints Montessori of Tempe where I worked as a teaching
assistant to a Kindergarten class. In my class I helped facilitate independent learning and exploration
while providing them with support. The diversity of students and the implementation of the Montessori
method has taught me valuable skills that I can utilize at your school.
During my senior year, I was a student-teacher for a Kindergarten class in the Tempe Elementary School
District. Using the tools and strategies I learned from my internship, I was able to implement
Montessori teaching styles as much as I could. I made sure that my lessons involved the senses, ensured
that each student was involved in their learning and gave them opportunities to be independent.
Seeing my students succeed and feel more confident in their studies has been so rewarding and I hope
to continue to do that at your school. Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from you
soon.
Sincerely,
Adriana
