Election Procedure
Process of Election
1. Mandatory information session for all candidatesmust attend 1 of 2 sessions
a. Thursday, October 26th at 4:30PM Kennedy Hall 106A
b. Monday, October 30th at 4:30PM Kennedy Hall 106A
2. Mandatory candidate submissions (deadline: Friday, November 3, 11:59PM)
a. One-page letter of interest*; sent to all chapter presidents
b. Application; responses sent to all chapter presidents
c. Both documents must be sent to president@cornellifc.org
and evp@cornellifc.org with the subject Last_First_Position
3. Suggested: Prior to the election, reach out to the Executive Board member who currently
holds the role you are seekingthis will give you a better understanding of the
responsibilities, recent projects & initiatives, and time commitment
4. Voting
a. Candidate delivers 2-minute speech
b. 1 individual may speak on their behalf for a maximum of 1 minute
Please note: Candidates cannot run off the floor; in order to run for a position, candidates
must complete all mandatory steps to be eligible for election

Application
Please answer all questions in a separate Word document; maximum of 100 words per
response. Make the subject of the document (Last Name_First Name_Position Seeking). Send
document to Drew Lord and Sam Turer at president@cornellifc.org and evp@cornellifc.org.
All responses will be sent to chapter presidents.

How do you plan to balance your role on the IFC Executive Board with academics and
other campus involvements? What do you imagine the time commitment to be?

Executive Board Position Descriptions
Fall 2018
The following are descriptions of the primary duties of each Executive Board position.
President
Lead the strategic development of the Interfraternity Council and all member
fraternities
Work in tandem with the Executive Vice President to oversee the actions & deliverables
of all other Executive Board members
Liaise between all chapter presidents, the Executive Board, OFSIL staff, and the
Executive Director of Campus and Community Engagement; as well to the Chair of the
Fraternity-Sorority Advisory Council, VP Student and Campus Life & the Board of
Trustees
Serve as Chair of Executive Board & Presidents Council meetings
Represent the fraternity community at the Fraternity-Sorority Advisory Council, as well
as the Presidents Councils on the Prevention of Hazing, Prevention of Sexual Violence,
Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs, and the Council on Mental Health & Well-Being
Represent the Interfraternity Council and the fraternity community at campus and
community events
Other duties and initiatives as assigned
NOTE: Must have served as chapter president or a past member of the IFC Executive Board.

Vice President for Judicial Affairs
Serve as Chair of the Greek Judicial Board and coordinate and manage hearings of
Interfraternity Council chapters
Appoint fraternity members to serve on the Greek Judicial Board
Oversee the Social Responsibility Committee (SRC) and their routine audit of registered
fraternity social events
Act as an intermediary to the CUPD Greek Liaison
Convene with OFSIL staff and the VPJs of MGLC & PHC weekly to discuss fraternity &
sorority cases and violations
Educate chapters about the Event Management Guidelines throughout the year, at the
Tri-Councils biannual Event Management Training, at the annual Slope Day Summit,
and when required by Greek Judicial Board sanctions
Serve as the Chair of IFC Executive Board Elections
Collaborate with Vice Presidents for UCRs of MGLC & PHC to advocate for the Greek
community at Cornell and in the greater Ithaca community
Inspire and coordinate fraternity collaboration through co-programming &
philanthropy initiatives
Spearhead fraternity-wide and Greek community service initiativesexamples include
Greeks Give Back, blood drives, Greek Movers & Shakers and community partnerships

Work with OFSIL, Collegetown & Cayuga Heights representatives, Cornell
administrators, and Ithaca officials to improve fraternity-community relations and
enhance chapters relationships with surrounding residents & students
Oversee the New Member Education period and the membership of the fraternity
community
o Coordinate and communicate with all fraternity New Member Educators
o Collaborate with OFSIL to run a New Member Educators training and discussion
in the fall prior to spring recruitment
o Work with the Executive Vice Presidents of the Multicultural Greek Letter
Council & the Panhellenic Council to organize Delta Seriesa speaker series held
in the spring, required of all new members of the Greek community
Liaise to Greek alumni organizationsAlumni Interfraternity Council (AIFC) and
Fraternity-Sorority Advisory Council (FSAC)
o Work with fraternity presidents, alumni relations officers, and chapter alumni
association presidents to inspire undergraduate-alumni coordination
o Write and publish The Greek Column, a publication of the Interfraternity Council
to inform alumni fraternity members about the status of the fraternity
community
o Coordinate and oversee a fraternity-wide undergraduate-alumni professional
mentorship program

Vice President for Programming
Record minutes and attendance at IFC Executive Board & Presidents Council meetings
Oversee all IFC communications effortsmaintain listservs, Google Groups, etc.
Curate all IFC social media accounts with compelling & dynamic contentFacebook,
Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat
Serve as the official public relations officer of the IFCspearheading publicity initiatives
and advocating for fraternity life on campus
Maintain the IFC website, cornellifc.org
Publish weekly newsletters with pertinent fraternity-related announcements through
the listserv
Act as a parliamentarian during voting and elections procedures, should the President
elect against appointing a parliamentarian
Serve as an outlet for concerns related to diversity and inclusivity issues from chapters and
individual members
Provide oversight to chapters on how to create effective, tangible change towards inclusivity
in their organizations through collaborative partnerships, programming ideas, and
sustainable change initiatives
Build and maintain a close working relationship with recruitment chairs to promote
inclusivity during recruitment processes
Oversee chapters successful implementation of events, trainings, and presentation and
hold those who fail to do so accountable
Highlight cultural events occurring on campus, hosted by either Greek or non-Greek
organizations and promote collaboration across such networks
