1 Firmware History

Applicable Models

RR-US470

Purpose

Enables compatibility of the Voice Editing software with the Microsoft Windows Vista
Home Basic, Home Premium, and Business 32-bit editions for customers who purchased one
of the above listed models and received Voice Editing 2.0 Premium Edition as an included
accessory.

Notes:

1. This software update is specifically for Windows Vista.

2. Proper installation and functioning is not guaranteed on Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98SE,
or earlier versions of Windows.

2 Copy the Firmware Update to your Computer

1. Insert the firmware update disc into the CD-R drive of your computer.

2. Access the CD-R drive of your computer.

3. Right Click on the firmware file titled VEd2_Update.exe.

4. Select Send to Desktop.

3 Uninstall Voice Editing Ver2.0

Note you will need the original software disc to reinstall the software and perform
the software update.

1. If Voice Editing Ver2.0 is already installed, sometimes proper updates cannot be made
due to the settings. Uninstall the program from the control panel program add / remove.

2. Re-install the software Voice Editing Ver2.0 using the steps below.

1. Insert the original software disc into the CD-R drive of your computer.
*If auto-start does not begin, double-click on \Launcher\VEd1Launcher.exe in the CD drive.

2. When the following dialog box appears, click on VEd1Launcher.exe

3. Click on the Voice Editing Ver.2.0 button.
Following the [Download procedure] and [Install procedure] indicated below,
start the update.

4. If any applications are running, please close them.

5. Click 'Allow' for Setup.exe.

6. Click 'OK'.

7. Click 'Next'

8. Read the licensing agreement and click 'Yes' if in agreement.

9. Select the destination and click 'Next'.

10. Select the program and folder and click 'Next'.

11. Check the necessary languages and click 'OK'.
Later you can add only the speech synthesis engine or the translation engine.

12. Switch to the second disk.

13. Click on Verun2.exe.

14. Remove the check from the English check box of the voice recognition engine
and click 'OK'.
*This does not run in Windows Vista so please do not install it.

15. Enter checks as necessary and click the 'Set' button.

The software is Office 2003 capable but not Office 2007 capable.

If you do not require the add-in functions, press 'Cancel'.

16. Click 'No'. (If this is already installed, this dialog may not appear.)
The Acrobat Reader included in the Voice Editing installation CD is not Vista-
capable.

17. Switch to the first disk.

18. Launch VEdV1Launcher.exe by clicking on it.

19. Click 'OK'.

20. Reboot the computer.

4 Install Firmware

1. Close all software before proceeding with the update.

2. The update will continue on from the installation.

Set the Installation CD #1 into the CD-ROM drive.
*Installation CD #1 is already in the CD-ROM drive immediately after the installation is
complete.

3. In Explorer, double-click of VoiceEditingV2_Update to implement the update.

4. Click 'Allow'.

5. Click 'OK'.

Note:
Depending on the computer, messages like the one below (Not Responding) may appear for
a moment, but the update process will be unaffected. Click OK.

6. Voice Editing will begin to run.

Following the dialog boxes, and when the settings are finished, the main screen will appear.

7. Check the Voice Editing version from Help in the Menu.

If it has become Ver.2.10 then the update has been successful.
