ARCHITECTURE

History of the Profession


Architecture has existed throughout societies within the traditions and the styles that differ with the
regions. Ancient culture created these buildings for not only shelter, but as a way to vent their own
personality and art style. Many regions such as Asia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Eastern Europe were
imperialistic cultures who used funding or slave labor to construct their ideas.

Architectures often work closely with many of their clients to discuss goals, requirements, views, and
budget. Architectures will sometimes be needed to provide design qualities that predict the
environmental impact and possible costs of an entire project.

Careers
There are self-employed architects (organize and keep their own professional practices), project
architects (make many design decisions and coordinate consultant activities), city and urban planners
(team that work together to list the environmental design decisions of any residential or regional
buildings), sustainable design consultants (works with design teams that integrate sustainable, net zero
energy designs) , and design consultants (architects who use their skills in design activities that are not
always in the design of buildings).

Education Requirements
Most states require architects to hold a degree from an accredited National Architectural Accrediting
Board School. Most architects get a 5 year bachelors degree in architecture. They also must have three
additional years of experience before they can take their licensure exam.
