Gujarat has exhibited a 12.5% high industrial growth rate from 2002 -2007. In Indias
10th Five Year Plan and has achieved a GDP growth of 10.2% as per the set target,
which was the highest amongst all States in India.

The Story So Far..
It is an initiative to provide for an integrated approach to create high standards of hygiene and
cleanliness, taking into consideration various sources of waste generation.

Key Outcomes

The Story So Far..
An Initiative of converting all buses and auto rickshaws plying in Gujarat into CNG Vehicles in order
to create a clean environment is being undertaken

Key Outcomes

90 CNG stations have been set up in the State so far by Gujarat Gas Corporation Limited (GGCL), Adani
and Gujarat State Petrochemical Corporation (GSPC)

535 CNG buses of Gujarat Sate Road Transport Corporation (CGRTC) are currently operating in Gujarat

Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Corporation (AMTC) owned 610 CNG buses in 2007
CNG Initiatives In Ahmedabad city, CNG auto rickshaws have been made mandatory

The first state-wide integrated grid has been initiated in the State for gas transmission, with a
primary objective of building a continuous State-wide gas supply system.

Key Outcomes

The exploration and procurement of gas has attracted private sector participation Reliance Industries
Limited (RIL) and Adani Group are recent entrants in to the sector

In order to provide a proper supply of Gas across the State, 1164 kms of gas pipeline has been
commissioned and 256 kms is under implementation

Already transmitting over 13 mmscmd of gas to industries in various cities of Gujarat through its pipeline Integrated Gas Grid
network, which also includes around 6 mmscmd of regassified LNG

Investment Opportunities: Housing for Urban Poor

Background

As part of its initiative to house the urban poor population of the city,

Ahmedabad Urban Authority (AUDA) has been constructing Economically

Weaker Sections (EWS) units for the last few years. One of the more far

reaching initiatives is the use of Cast in Situ technology for the new EWS

units.

Background

In order to improve the infrastructure and services provided by Urban

Local bodies the Urban Development Department has authorized GUDC

to undertake Energy Efficiency projects in the State of Gujarat.

Investment Opportunities: Solid Waste Management
Background
The rapid industrialization and urbanization in the State of Gujarat
coupled with the Municipal Solid Waste (Management & Handling) Rules Waste Procurement
2000 framed by GoI has led to the rise in awareness for scientific Equipment for primary door-to-door collection of waste for
disposal of Municipal Solid Wastes 161 ULBs complete.

GoG has appointed GUDC as a nodal agency for implementing the Solid
Waste Management centrally for all ULBs Waste Processing

Construction of vermi compost plant is in progress at ULBs all
