Subject Voice Thread

Grade Level Fourth Grade

Materials Chrome Books, iPad, iPhone, Voice Threads,

Objectives Students will be able to create a story using their voices while
incorporating.

for Students
Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and
solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions. Students:

1. know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing
theories, creating innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems.
2. select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that
considers design constraints and calculated risks.
3. develop, test and refine prototypes as part of a cyclical design
process.

6. Creative Communicator

Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety


of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media
appropriate to their goals. Students:

1. create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital


resources into new creations.
2. communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating or
using a variety of digital objects such as visualizations, models or
simulations.

Teaching Timeline:

Step 0 Arrive to Setup (5:30-6:00pm)

Step 1 Welcome the students and their caregiver, and friend/cousin if brought
one. (5-10min)

Step 2 Explain what Digital Storytelling is.


Explain what the students will be creating
Explain how they will be creating it by using Voice threads
Show personal Example of artifacts. (15min)

Step 3 Show how the app works. How to

Draw on photo
Voice over photo
(15 minutes)

Step 4 Create Digital Story about Artifacts (25-30min)

Step 5 Edit Artifacts


Walk around and check to see if anyone needs help,
suggestions, or has any questions. (15min)

Step 6 Present and Share artifacts through Digital Storytelling for those who
want to share. (25-30min)

Step 7 Thank everyone for coming, participating, and sharing.


(Optional) Ask questions and explain how/why digital storytelling is
creative and important in education.
Allow for students/caregivers to ask questions about the
technology, things they still have question about, things they
didnt understand, things they liked/disliked. (15min)
