Topic :

We are the Leaders to ourselves

General Purpose :
To persuade

Specific Purpose :
To persuade my audience that the country need more leaders and not just merely followers in
order to reduce the problem existing in our country.

Central Idea :
We must realise that every change starts from ourselves, being optimistic and have a big why
why we are here and what can we help to improve ourselves and our nation.

Malaysia is a beautiful country to live in. Yes, it is a fact. If you google best place to retire,
you will find Malaysia consistently among the top 10 in the world, not just in Asia. In fact,
maybe we are the only country, comprising the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Eurasians, Dayak,
and many others can live happily and peacefully here.

Nevertheless, the beauty of this country is indeed being threatened by rising street crime,
rising cost of living, some degree of political and social unrest, and rising incidents of
rudeness and rage on streets. Today, Malaysians have become oversensitive and intolerant,
and this sickness, is raging across the nation from top to bottom. In fact, According to 2016
results of Corruption Perception Index of Transparency International, Malaysia ranks 55th place out
of 176 countries.

We, as a Malaysian who loves this country, need to do something. In my opinion, the
problems exists because most of us just become the followers. I suggest that the only
solution to solve the problems that we have created is, we must stop being a follower and
start to be a leader to ourselves.
There is a quote saying that if you want to change the world change the your country first.
If you want to change your country, change your state first, if you want to change your
state, change your province, first. If you want to change your province, change your housing
area first. If you want to change your housing area, change your family first. If you want to
change your family, change yourself first And the way to start making a change in ourself is,
we must be the leader of our own body, and not the others.
Besides, we have to think optimistically and be brave to change ourself. It is because our
thoughts influence our actions. Imagine, a Prime Minister of a country is being optimistic
with the abilities of his people, that country will flourish and being respected by other
nations. Now let us imagine, when the opposite things happen. The leaders of the country
are pessimistic. What will happen to that country? The country will not be respected. For
your information, there is a saying that The smallest country in the world is yourself. I see
the quote is true. Your heart is the King, your mind is the Prime Minister and your hands
and legs, your mouth and eyes are your citizens. Hence, we , with our heart, have to lead all
of our ownself towards the success of our life story. Imagine again, if enough people realise
this, we all might change the destiny of our country.
Furthermore, We also must have a big why why we are here, and what can we help to
improve ourselves and our nation. How to do that? We can do that by setting the goal we
want to accomplish in our life. Remember, Great leaders do not set out to be a leader. They
set out to make a difference. It is never about the role, but it is about the goal. Realising all
of us are the leaders, we must always aware that, a leader is one who knows the way, goes
the way and shows the way. We must know the way we are going, and goes the way
bravely, and shows the way to other people.
In conclusion, It's what you do, not what you say. Let us build a new Malaysia together, because all
of us is a leader. Let us make Malaysia great again by making ourself great leader.
