TITLE

Archimedes Principle

OBJECTIVES

To find the buoyant force of an object depends on the volume submerged.

To determine the density of the fluid.

APPARATUS

Newton spring
String
Retort stand
Beaker
Glass block
Water
Oil

PROCEDURE
1. Newton spring was mount on a rod which id clamped to a retort stand.
2. The dimension of the object was recorded.
3. Object was hanged from the Newton spring with a string and its weight was
recorded, W
4. 1600 ml of water was put into the beaker and the beaker was placed below the
hanging object.
5. The spring was lower by adjusting the clamp to immerse the object. The amount of
submerged is increased by increments of 1 cm, weight of object was recorded each
time in Table 1. The process was continued until the whole cylinder was submerged.
6. Procedure 1 to 5 was repeated using oil instead of water.
