ABSTRACT

The research was conducted in August - September 2016, in one of the granite
mining companies in Karimun - Riau Islands, which is engaged in mining of
granite. The company's production target is 830 explosive holes and granite stone
production 420,000 tons / month. Problems that occur at the time of the authors
do research is not achieving the production targets per month. This is due to
technical constraints in the drill tool that has not been optimal and the slow
penetration rate of drilling. Prior to the Total Productive Maintenance the
number of explosive holes was only 656 explosive / month holes and granite stone
production was only 332,930 tons and after optimizing the drill tool and known
factors affecting the penetration rate in the field, the number of explosive holes
increased to 740 hole / month and 371,499 tons / month and produce granite
stone production of 12,383 tons / day.

In drilling activities, things that do not affect the achievement of production

targets are technical constraints on drill tools (flushing drill that is not working
properly), 72% drilling tool efficiency with effective time of 07.52 hours / shift (10
hours / shift available) , the condition of the drill tool is often damaged.
