2.1.3 Installation path

Ensure that the installation path does not contain any blank spaces.

2.1.4 Recovering the Advanced Report Configurations

After you upgrade a powermanager project to V3.4, by default, the report templates
and database file (Report.mdb) also get replaced. As a result of this, all the
configurations made to the report files such as tariff sets, schedule, and so on in the
previous version are lost.

During the upgrade, powermanager creates a new folder in the report directory
named BAK. This folder contains all the report files from the previous version with an
extension .bak. For example, Report.mdb file from the previous version is renamed
as Report.mdb.bak.

To retain the report configurations from the previous version for the upgraded
version:

1. After upgrading the project, delete the Report.mdb files from the following
location:
<drive letter>:\SENTRON\powermanager\data\xls_report\
2. Go to the BAK folder created in the above directory.
3. Rename the following files:
Rename Report.mdb.bak to Report.mdb.
4. Copy the Report.mdb files to the directory given in Step 1.

The report window will now have all the configurations from the previous project.
2.1.5 Upgrading a previous powermanager project
The powermanager V3.4 projects support eight languages.

The below table provides the available languages for upgraded projects

Before upgrading the previous versions of powermanager projects, make the

following changes to the project config file:
1. Go to <project_directory>/config/.
Here, <project_directory> is the directory where you installed previous
powermanager projects.
2. Open the config file.
3. In the config file, update the following parameter from:
proj_path = "<Previous_Installed_Path>/powermanagerLib"
to
proj_path = "<Current_Installed_Path>/powermanagerLib"
For example,
proj_path = "C:/Siemens/SENTRON/powermanager/powermanagerLib"
4. Save and close the config file.
5. Go to project administration panel and update the project.

After upgrading the project from an earlier version of powermanager to the current
version powermanager V3.4:

1. If any Limit control device parameter is used in Reports/Reaction

Plans/KPI/Trend, the configuration of the same needs to be removed and
configured again.
2. The number of user interfaces which can be opened is increased to 20.
3. The device communication needs to be restarted manually post the upgrade to
powermanager V3.4.

For more information on upgrading a project, see the following section in the online
help: project settings -> Upgrading a Project.

You cannot install two different versions of powermanager (Example: V3.0 and V3.4)
on a single system

2.1.6 Additions to the Certificate of License / Licensing

The Certificate of License is part of the contract belonging to the scope of supply
regarding use of software products for a one-off fee. Among other things, it identifies
licensed software parts with their warranty classes. The customer is not entitled to
make changes to the software. Ensure that you quote the identification number of the
Certificate of License in all correspondence.

If you want to use individual panels (other than the standard device views of the PM
Explorer) you must have the EXPERT option package.
2.2 User Information

2.2.1 Reaction Plans

If a digital input of a device of another system in the distributed system is linked to
a digital output of a local device and the connection to the remote device is broken
(for instance, due to a communication breakdown), the digital output of the local
device retains the last valid state.

Note: If the status of the digital input is changing during the communication
breakdown (for example, when the output is switched manually), the local device will
not capture this changed status.
2.2.2 Information on Web browser information
Ensure that the following conditions are met before using the Web view:
You have started the Control manager of the Web view already inserted in the
Console.
Start the Web view using the following URL:
http://[computername/]
(for example, http://localhost/)

Press the Download button in the web viewer to download the plug-in.
Follow the instructions given in the setup to install the plug-in (the plug-in is
downloaded from host machine).

The buttons to access the online help and the report generator are not
available in the Web view.
It is not possible to configure the system from the Web view.
The Web view uses port 80 for communicating with the server.
The Web view can only be used if port 80 is not being used by other
applications. For example, by a Web server.

2.2.3 Information on the Expert Option Package

To use the Expert option package and start the relevant configuration tool, start
the corresponding user interface in the Console. For this purpose, close the user
interface in the Console and start the relevant user interface with the -extend
option. Please note that you can only start this interface with the relevant license
for the Expert option package. (Order No. 3ZS2710-2CC20-0YH0)

The device configurations should also be performed by means of the PM Explorer

with the Expert option package. Please note that parameterization in the Para
editor may lead to data inconsistencies.

2.2.4 Information on Archiving

The default archive settings in powermanager V3.4 are configured for 100 devices.

As PAC1200 and SEM3 devices are configurable dynamically at runtime, the

corresponding archive settings needs to be configured by considering the following
conditions:

1 PAC1200 (with all sensors connected) = 5 PAC4200 devices

1 SEM3 device (with all sensors connected) = 5 PAC4200 devices

2.2.6 Information on the Generic Breaker

Depending on the breaker used, lock the breaker in hardware terms against
undesired/unauthorized operation.
Minimum requirements

Lock the closing against the Tripped status. There is no software locking mechanism
for the generic breaker.

2.2.7 Information on Area Administration

In the area administration every device type is displayed in a column. The column is
marked if a device-specific parameterization has been made in an area for a device
type.

2.2.8 Information on Time Synchronization

In order to switch time synchronization on and off, activate or deactivate the following
two addresses:

command set date / time

command nanosecond

2.2.9 Filter
Use the wildcard filter mode to filter internal names only. The filter shall work only for
the selected values and not the entire data set of the meters.

2.2.10 Information regarding powerconfig

It is possible to work with powerconfig and powermanager at the same time.
However, to configure a PAC3100 with powerconfig, first disconnect the
communication to the PAC3100/PAC1500 device from powermanager.

For PAC3200, the communication with powermanager and powerconfig

simultaneously will work only from firmware version V2.4.2.

2.2.11 Information Regarding Distributed Systems

Distributed systems enable the connection of two or more autonomous
powermanager systems via a network. You can configure each subsystem of a
distributed system either as a single-station system or a multi-station system. For
further information, refer to the online help.

Note: Projects from previous version of powermanager and projects from V3.4
cannot coexist.
2.2.12 Hints for Server 2008 R2/2012 and Windows 7/8.1
Ensure that you run the Project Administration and the Console panels of
powermanager with administrator rights. For this purpose, right-click the Project
Administration or the Console panel, and click Run as administrator.

2.2.13 Information on Polling Time

From V3.4, due to Modbus driver optimization, there is an impact on the poll time as
mentioned below:

For PAC3200, PAC3200T, and PAC4200 devices, the work hour counter
values and Process work hour counter values poll at every second
instead of every 10 seconds.
For SEM3 devices, the energy counter values poll at every second
instead of every 10 seconds.

2.3 Information on Reporting

2.3.1 Basic reports

The basic reports can be accessed from the Report view within powermanager
application. The Report view is used to create and configure templates and create the
final reports.

It consists of 4 tabs, Create report, View report, Template management, and settings.

The reports can be created in excel or pdf format. The basic report functionality does
not need excel or acrobat to be installed for report creation.

2.4.2 Support of COM11

The powermanager V3.4 does not support creation of the 3VL COM11 device.
However, if previous versions of powermanager projects already contain 3VL
COM11 devices and you migrate the projects to powermanager V3.4, then you can
still use the existing 3VL COM11 devices.

2.4.3 Communication
In case of a breakdown of several devices (for example, a router fails), disconnect
the communication to these affected devices in order to avoid a general
communication failure of all connected devices.

2.4.4 Using PAC4200 as gateway

If you are using a PAC4200 device as a gateway, select the slot the RTU device
(for example, PAC3100) is connected to for the parameterization of this device. In
this scenario, select either PAC4200 1st slot or PAC4200 2nd slot.

As setting for the PAC4200, select gateway/serial gateway to get communication to

powermanager.

2.4.5 Maximum Number of the Participants within the Modbus RTU -

subnet
Due to physical limitations of the serial communication bus (Modbus RTU) you can
connect a maximum of 31 devices to one PAC4200. For more details see the FAQ: I
want to use the PAC4200 built-in gateway and subordinated PAC3100 devices,
together with powermanager in my application. What is the maximum amount of
PAC3100 devices that can be connected to one PAC4200?

2.4.6 Viewing the Fault Records of PAC5200 & P855

For PAC5200 & P855 devices, you can view the power quality and event recordings
directly from the device in the form of HTML pages on a connected PC and export the
readings using open data formats such as COMTRADE in the form of error
recordings.
The ComtradeViewer provides other evaluation and reporting functions for PAC5200
& P855. The ComtradeViewer can be accessed from the following path: C:\Program
Files (x86)\Siemens\Energy\ComtradeViewer\V4_54.

2.4.7 PAC5200 & P855 Power Quality Events

The powermanager displays the timestamp of PAC5200 & P855 device power quality
events.

The powermanager will not display the new timestamp incase the same event occurs
again if the previous event is not reset in the device.

2.4.8 Manual Measuring Device

The powermanager supports devices that are either not capable of or restricted from
communicating with any external system.
The manual measuring device feature enables you to manually add data of a non-
communicating device into powermanager.

design allows for low, medium, and high density metering requirements to be met
efficiently and economically using only a few standardized components integrated
into Siemens Panelboard and Switchboard products.

2.5 Information on KPI

The KPI view can be used to generate the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of any
building or industry. The view consists of a tree where you can add KPIs. KPIs can be
calculated according to time ranges like day, week, month, and year.

A cluster of KPIs is a group. Group1 is available by default. A maximum of 9 KPIs can

be created in a group and multiple groups can be created.
For more information, refer to the chapter KPI view in powermanager online help.
