ABSTRACT

Indonesia as a vast archipelagic country has an active defense strategy that requires a better
defense system to maintain its territory. Submarine is one of main tool systems for national
defense and the development of mini submarine technology in today's world is growing very
rapidly. Analysis of hydrodynamic aspects is one of the essential stages in ship design
process in order to get an optimal ship performance. In ship design process, one of the aspects
being calculated is resistance as a means to attain engine power needed. Therefore the ship
can operate at speeds as desired by the owner. With the vast advancements of technology
these days, there are plenty of softwares that can be easily used to calculate and stimulate
resistance when a ship is operating, one of which is CFD. This research focused on the
analysis of submarine resistance in submerged condition performed with the help of
numerical methods through CFD. The resistance calculation of mini submarine was
performed on ten variations of speed, namely: 2 knots, 3 knots, 4 knots, 5 knots, 7 knots, 8
knots, 10 knots, 12 knots, 14 knots, and 15 knots.
