of Modernity
Architecture in 1992-2001 China as a Sample

1992-2001

[ ] Li Hua ABSTRACT
[ ] Ge Ming This paper proposes an approach to studying the history of

contemporary architecture discursive formation. It attempts

to explore the following aspects: first, from the viewpoint of
( 210096) theoretical and historical studies, it expounds the framework,

contents and validity of the discursive formation as a method
to historize and intellectualize contemporary architectural
1992-2001
2015/10/15 practice in the condition of modernity. Second, based upon its

framework, this paper takes architecture in 1992-2001 China
as a sample to illustrate how to understand, interpret and
reconstruct a knowledge of architecture. Third, it ventures to
identify the reasons why China and Asia could form a frontier for

pushing forward theory and history studies of contemporary

architecture and the methods.
