Carmen is like a tree that gives mangoes and magnolias because she is cuban and
american.The text states My father tells me that I am like a branch from that cuban mango
tree he says georgia is like the magnolia tree I must wait eventually the mango and magnolia
will grow together. This quote demonstrates that the mango tree represents cuba because she
is from Cuba and the magnolia tree represents America so her father is saying that she is now
american and cuban.
