A short report about the Construction Material Testing

Description for Dam

A reconnaissance traverse was done in the direction of north west , sand north east in the
confluence of both these nalas of the proposed dam site for rock aggregate and sands ,are
essential for the contraction as concrete dam . in this connection,there are two main quarries
,one is in the north east which is composed of ultramaffic rocks(peridotite) and the other is in
the north west probably quartzite samples were taken from each locations and tested for the
specification according to the test carried out in the site lab by our experts shows
compatibility for using in concrete such as

Peridotite loss Angeles value is (18.0%)

Quartzite loss Angeles value is (15.5 %)

The Peridotites are exposed in left site of the dam and are sufficient to cope with the situation and
has good and reasonable hard ness, while the Quartzite quarry has greater test value further more
there is sufficient place for the installation of crushing plant and more near for using.

1-vech shakh (near the dam axis area)-;

We found a big quintets of stones wiche is available near the dam axis area its also reddish colour
hard rock and also found very good during the tests performed in the site lab of Gulf company and
this source of stone is very suitable for the aggregates for the concrete

Type of tests to be performed on stones;

A-Specific gravity test

B-Water absorption test

C-Sound ness test

D-Loss angles abrasion test

Sand Quarries-
Sand is also essential for construction to be used in concrete for this purpose reported sites were
visited and samples were taken and analyzed at site lab which is as below.

1)-Bade Machalgho:
Sand is available near the village of Bade Machalgho in nala bed .This sand is found to be courser
variety sand during the testing performed in the Gulf site lab in Machalgho which is not suitable for
the concrete.
(2)-Existing Power House; (D/S in the Machalgho river Bed);
This sand is also found to be courser variety sand during the testing performed in the Gulf site lab in
Machalgho which is not suitable for the concrete.

(3)-Sayyed khale and Momin khale;

This sand is found in nala bed of the Sayyed khale and Momin khale very fine during the testing
performed in the Gulf site lab in Machalgho which is not suitable for the concrete.Becouse its
(FM)not more then (.9 or 1.1).

(4)-Mamozai village nala bed;

This sand is found in nala bed of the Mamozai village also very fine during the testing performed in
the Gulf site lab in Machalgho which is not suitable for the concrete.Becouse its (FM)not more then
(.9 or 1.1).

(5)-Sayyad Karam nala bed (near the Grades city)-;

This sand is found in nala bed of the Sayyad Karam village also very fine during the testing
performed in the Gulf site lab in Machalgho which is not suitable for the concrete.Becouse its
(FM)not more then (.9 or 1.1).

(5)-Zao and Sarkhy village in the Zurmatt district;

This sand quarry is found near the village of Zao and another near the village of Sarkhy which
situated in Zermatt district. These quarries are so far from the project area but found very good during
the testing performed in the site lab of the Gulf company .Its (f/m) found during the (2.3 to 2.6) and
also free from dust and clay .So therefore it is suitable for concrete work.

Type of tests to be performed on sand;

1- Specific Gravity.
2- Moister content.

3 -Absorption value.

4-Gradation analysis and also (f/m).

5-Unite weight (raided and lose) .
