The properties of galaxies play vital roles in analyzing the formation and evolution

of galaxies. Star formation rate, stellar mass, and galaxy type are the parameters being
monitored in correlating the galaxies and their environments. This study focused on
determining the relationship between star formation rates and specific star formation
rates of galaxies and their residential environments.

Two samples from two large scale taxonomies were utilized to study the effects
of large scale environments on galaxy properties. The sample of galaxy groups is
constructed through modified friend-of-friend (FoF) method coupled with a procedure
of alternate linking lengths in transverse and radial directions. From there, star formation
rate and specific star formation activities were determined.

Figure 1. Graphs for determining the relationship between , galaxy mass (upper right),
specific star formation rate (upper left), and star formation rate (bottom) with the
distance R from the filament axis ( the red lines corresponds for the elliptical galaxies,
and the blue lines stand for the spiral galaxies).
1. What is the relationship between the distance from the filament axis and the star
formation rate of elliptical galaxies?
a. Star formation is directly proportional to the distance from filament axis.
b. Star formation is inversely proportional to the distance from filament axis.
c. Regardless of the distance from filament axis, star formation rate remains the
same.
d. None of the above

2. According to Figure 1, what can we say about the relationship of galaxy stellar
mass with the distance from the filament axis for both galaxies?
a. The galaxy stellar mass is inversely proportional with the distance from the
filament axis for both spiral and elliptical galaxies.
b. The galaxy stellar mass is directly proportional with the distance from the
filament axis for both spiral and elliptical galaxies.
c. The galaxy stellar mass is not related with the distance from the filament axis
for both spiral and elliptical galaxies.
d. A parameter that needs to be further studied in order to establish its
relationship

3. Based from Figure 1, what happens to the specific star formation rate of elliptical
galaxies when distance from filament axis is increased? Increases
a. The specific star formation rate increases with increasing distance from
filament axis for elliptical galaxies.
b. The specific star formation rate decreases with increasing distance from
filament axis for elliptical galaxies.
c. The specific star formation rate remains the same with increasing distance
from filament axis for elliptical galaxies.
d. The specific star formation rate is not related with increasing distance from
filament axis for elliptical galaxies.

4. Referring to Figure 1, how does the distance from the filament axis affect the
specific star formation rate for spiral galaxies?
a. For spiral galaxies, the distance from the filament axis affects the specific star
formation rate directly.
b. For spiral galaxies, the distance from the filament axis affects the specific star
formation rate inversely.
c. For spiral galaxies, the distance from the filament axis affects the specific star
formation rate insignificantly.
d. None of the above
5. Based from the results of Figure 1, what can we say about the behavior of spiral
galaxies in large scale environments?
a. The star formation rate and specific star formation rates of spiral galaxies are
affected by the large scale environments significantly.
b. The star formation rate and specific star formation rates of spiral galaxies are
not significantly affected by the large scale environments.
c. The effect of large scale environments on star formation rate and specific star
formation rates of spiral galaxies is not yet determined.
d. The data obtained from the study are not sufficient to establish a trend
between star formation rate and specific star formation rates and large
scale environments of spiral galaxies

6. Based from the results of Figure 1, what can we say about the behavior of
elliptical galaxies in large scale environments?
a. The star formation rate and specific star formation rates of elliptical galaxies
are significantly affected by the large scale environments.
b. The star formation rate and specific star formation rate distributions of
elliptical galaxies are not sensitive to large scale environments.
c. The star formation rate and specific star formation rates of elliptical galaxies
are not significantly affected by the large scale environments.
d. Both b and c are correct.
