THE RELATIONSHIP OF OBESITY AND HYPERTENSION WITH DIABETES


MELLITUS INCIDENT AT OUTPATIENT CLINIC IN RSUD CLASS B SUBANG

ABSTRACT

Background : the ever increasing disease sufferers of diabetes mellitus which is


also a disease leading cause of death in the 6th number in Indonesia, risk factors
for diabetes mellitus is obesity about 80-90% of patients experiencing obesity and
hypertension and diabetes usually have dependencies with the pathophysiology
underlying the existence of the very influential to disease resistance of diabetes
mellitus.
Aims of research : To know the relationship of obesity and hypertension with
diabetes mellitus incident.
Research Method : This research is the study of analytic research design types
used such as control case study. The population in this study are all patients who
come to the installation of outpatient in hospital are class B Subang.
Determination of sample done with use of formulas with a number of sample case
control 190 people with some 95 people comprises cases and control of 95
people. The collection of data are analyzed with percentage and univariate
bivariate use with chi square statistical tests.
Research Result : Based on the analysis of 69.4% of respondents found that
suffer from obesity and 73,5% respondents suffer from hypertension. This
research concluded that obesity can have a relationship with diabetes mellitus
with p value = 0.000 at = 0.05 OR with value = 4,349 with 95% CL: 2,357-8,
025 and hypertension with diabetes mellitus with p-value = 0.000 at = 0.05 with
a value OR = 95% Cl:2,476-9,126.
Conclution and Sugestion : Based on the research results can be inferred that
there is a relationship of obesity with diabetes mellitus and hypertension there is
a connection with occurrence of diabetes mellitus. The results of this research
are expected for the rest of the hospital providing counselling to patients by the
periodical stakeholders about the importance of controlling excessive weight or
obesity that resulted in that can trigger the onset of diabetes mellitus and
hypertension in particular how guidance about organizing a good diet to control
blood pressure.
