B. Uraian materi
1. Recount text
Recount
A recount is a piece of text that retells past events, usually in the order in which they
happened.
Listening to a recount is listening about something that has happened in your life,
what you did at the weekend or exciting things.
The purpose of recount is to give a description of what occured and when it occured.

Types of recount
Personal recount
This usually retells an event that the writer was personally involved in.
Biography recount
This usually retells accounts of a persons life.
Factual recount
This records an incidents, e.g. a science experiment, police report, etc.
Imaginative recount
The writer writes an imaginary role and giving details of events in the
recount, e.g. a day in the life of a pirate.
Historical recount
This retells historical events in the past.

Recount Text
Diana was born in 1961 as the third daughter of Edward John Spencer and his wife
Ruth Burke Roche. Diana grew up in a very privileged family that had a long history of
close ties with the royal family. When Dianas paternal grandfather passed away in 1975,
Dianas father became the 8th Earl of Spencer and Diana gained the title of Lady.
In 1969, Dianas parents divorced. Her mothers affair helped court decide to give
custody of the couples four children to Dianas father. Both of her parents eventually
remarried, but the divorce left an emotional scar on Diana.
Diana attended school at West Heath in Kent and spent a short time a finishing
school in Switzerland. Although she was not an excellent student academically, her
determined personality, caring nature, and cheerful outlook helped her through it. After
returning from Switzerland, Diana rented an apartment with two friends, worked with
children at the Young England Kindergarten, and watched movies and visited restaurants
in her free time.
It was about this time that Prince Charles, in his early 30, was under increasing
pressure to choose a wife. Dianas vibrancy, cheerfulness, and good family background
caught the attention of Prince Charles and the two began dating during in mid-1980. It was
a whirlwind romance for on February 24, 1981, Buckingham Palace officially announce
the couples engagement. At the time, Lady Diana and Prince Charles seemed truly in love
and whole world was awed by what seemed like a fairytale romance.

On Wednesday, my students and I went to Yogyakarta. We stayed at Dirgahayu Hotel which is
not far from Malioboro.

On Thursday, we visited the temples in Prambanan. There are three big temples, the Brahmana,
Syiwa and Wisnu temples. They are really amazing. We visited only Brahmana and Syiwa temples,
because Wisnu temple is being renovated.

On Friday morning we went to Yogya Kraton. We spent about two hours there. We were lucky
because we were led by a smart and friendly guide. Then we continued our journey to Borobudur.
We arrived there at four p.m. At 5 p.m. we heard the announcement that Borobudur gate would be
closed.
In the evening we left for Jakarta by wisata bus.
