1.0 REASON FOR INVESTIGATION

Doug Fulton, Attorney, of Brick-Gentry Law Firm, informed me of allegations involving a


hostile work environment affecting members of the Indianola city government. He has been
retained by the City of Indianola to conduct an inquiry into these allegations and has authorized
this investigation firm, Homefront Security, to conduct the investigation and provide a detailed
report with key findings and recommendations. The information contained in the following
report only provides preliminary findings of the allegations fueling this investigation.

2.0 KEY FINDINGS

COMPLAINT 1: A disciplinary report filed by a supervisor against a subordinate contains


inaccurate information and was done to provoke and create hostility alleges the
subordinate.

Investigation Disposition: UNFOUNDED (All Facets of complaint)

COMPLAINT 2: Yelling and intimidation by Employee 3 directed at Employee 4 has left


Employee 4 preoccupied which is affecting Employee 4s ability to perform his/her job
and affecting life outside the office. Furthermore, Employee 4 is scared that at some
point this could lead Employee 3 causing Employee 4 physical harm.

Investigation Disposition: UNUBSTANTIATED

COMPLAINT 3: Employee 5 alleges Employee 6 requested Employee 5 to be untruthful


and as a result, Employee 5 was physically shaken and fearful for his/her physical
safety.

Investigation Disposition: UNSUBSTANTIATED

COMPLAINT 4: Employee 7 alleges Employee 8 pressured Employee 7 into working on a
day off without compensation.

Investigation Disposition: UNFOUNDED

COMPLAINT 5: Employee 11 alleges telephone contact by Employee 12 in which


Employee 12 questioned Employee 11s ability to maintain confidentiality of an ongoing
investigation, this investigation, causing Employee 11 unnecessary stress. Additionally,
Employee 13 alleges this action by Employee 12, in essence, is creating a hostile work
environment.

Investigation Disposition: UNSUBSTANTIATED

COMPLAINT 6: Employee 14 alleges Employee 16 made Employee 14 uncomfortable


with a question during an internal position interview.

Investigation Disposition: UNFOUNDED

3.0 CONCLUSIONS

There is no evidence of a hostile work environment, yet there is evidence of frictions between
elected officials and employees which has caused unnecessary stress throughout the workplace.
