On Thursday 19th October, we went to Malcom Arnold
Academy to participate in 4 activities; Art, Music, Science and
P.E., my preferred activity was either Art or Science as they were equally enjoyable. For our first activity, Art, we were on a table and we were exploring textures. Each table had 2 plastic bags which protected some materials we could use for our boards. We stuck the materials onto our boards with PVA glue and once we had glued them on, we stuck our letters of our name onto them and later the teacher, Mrs Prince, spray-painted them and we received them at the conclusion of the academic day. In our second activity, Music, we composed rhythms and practised the rhythms that the teachers gave us beforehand, Woodpecker and Yummy Chicken Nuggets but Daisey created Yummy Chicken Nuggets, we did all this on drums from Africa and it was really fun and enjoyable apart from the fact that we had to share drums so we did not get to do the whole lesson because the other person was participating on your behalf. We were placed into groups of 4 to compose music on our drums and I was with the person I shared a drum with, Lacey, and also another pair who were Ro and William. Soon after, we performed in front of our classmates. In our third activity, Science, we were being technicians investigating a theft of a trophy we had won for sports and there were 4 suspects, The baker[C], The schools chef[D], The decorator[A] and the school cleaner[B]. We were placed into groups of 6 and I was with Tafara, Rebeka, Karolina, Ro and Brogan. We did experiments and wrote the information and then the teacher told us the Baker was the thief! In our final activity, P.E., [Which was my least favourite] we were separated into 4 teams; yellow, blue, green and red. I was sorted into red and the captain of that team was Reilly. We had a competition that our team lost unfortunately but only by 1 point because if we got 1 more point the green team would have lost and the reason we lost was probably because my javelin throw was just a bit further than a ruler-length. It was a wonderful experience at Malcom Arnold Academy! ~Rebecca Storey We had 5
