COURSE HANDOUT
FEEDBACK AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

Course Code : 15 ME 3115

Course Title : Feedback and control systems
L-T-P structure : 3-0-2
Course Credits : 04
Pre-Requisite Course : Measurements (15 GN 1003)
Course Coordinator : Dr. G.Yedukondalu
Course Instructors : Mr. Syed Karimulla and Mr. R. Venkatesh
Course Teaching Associates :

Course Objective:

The primary objective of this course is to inculcate understanding of considerations involved in

the selection of appropriate control systems for various industrial and non-industrial
applications. It is expected that with this knowledge, students will be able to analyze a control
system required for a given application. The course also aims at helping students acquire the
ability to model a system and estimate its expected performance/behavior.

Course Rationale:

Each and every equipment that we come across in the modern era is a control system for e.g.
Automobiles, Robots, CNC Machines, Flight Control etc. Students undertaking this course acquires
basic exposure to this fascinating area helping them to pursue higher studies in the areas of
Industrial Automation, Robotics & Mechatronics. Secondly they will develop confidence to pitch
themselves for a career in product design.

In this course, students will be taught essential fundamentals, considerations involved in the
selection of appropriate controllers for a given application. They will analyze and apply the
theoretical concepts to meet the needs of given applications. Students learn to evaluate the
expected performance of the proposed design using control system techniques.

Students undertaking this course
acquire basic exposure to this fascinating area helping them to pursue higher studies in the
areas of Industrial Automation, Robotics & Mechatronics. Secondly they will develop confidence
to pitch themselves for a career in product design.

In this course, students will be taught essential fundamentals, considerations involved in the
selection of appropriate controllers for a given application. They will analyze and apply the
theoretical concepts to meet the needs of given applications. Students learn to evaluate the
expected performance of the proposed design using control system techniques.
