Jason
We are here today to address the charges brought to the court by Jason against
Medea.
Here are the charges brought against her:
Medea is charged with 3 accounts of first degree murder against:
(1) The Princess of Corinth-Glauce
(2) Child 1
(3) Child 2
And 1 account of involuntary manslaughter against:
(1) Creon, King of Corinth
Parties Involved:
1. The Defendants: This team must defend Medea and her actions. If you are chosen for this
team, you must choose 1 person to play the role of Medea and you will need to choose 2
people to be your witnesses.
2. The Plaintiffs: This team must prosecute Medea. If you are chosen for this team, you
must choose 1 person to play the role of Jason and you will need to choose 2 people to be
your witnesses.
3. Medea (Defense)
4. Jason (Plaintiff)
5. Witnesses (Defense & Plaintiff)
6. The Jury (6): This team must weigh the evidence and cast votes, deciding if Medea is
guilty or innocent. During the trial you must take notes and deliver a report of your
decision.
7. The Judge: Ms. Walker

We will have a couple of work days prior to and after the trial. In the days before the trial the
defendants and the plaintiffs will work to develop their arguments while the jury members work
on their play summaries and their gathering evidence charts. In the days after the trial, the jury
will work on developing their written verdicts while the defendants and the plaintiffs work on
their play summaries.

Defendants:

You must choose 1 person to play the role of Medea and 2 people to act as your witnesses. I
would suggest that you nominate a lead attorney for your group, to help organize. You will all be
responsible for:
1. Turning in your evidence that youve gathered.
2. Developing your arguments which include:
1. An opening statement that declares your argument.
2. A minimum of 3 accounts of evidence proving Medeas innocence.
3. An interview with 2 witnesses.
4. Questions for the witnesses of the plaintiff.
5. Closing remarks.

During the trial you may choose to object to a claim made by the prosecuting team, but I, as
judge, have the right to overrule. Work together and plan wisely.

The Jury:
People of the jury, your job is to listen and take notes on what you hear during the court
proceedings. You are each responsible for turning in your notes following the hearing. After the
hearing, you will have time to discuss and collaborate to come up with a verdict. At a time,
appointed by the judge, you will select a foreman of the jury to deliver your verdict.
Each of you will be turning in:
1. Your notes from the trial
2. A reflection of the trial and a defense of your decision.
