Planters for
your garden
Spring into action and get a head start
on your summer garden. Fill these classic
planters by John Clayton with flowers!

P
lanters originate from the
Palace of Versailles, the
home of the French Royal
family near Paris. At the end of
the 18th century continental
gardeners were coming to this
country to lie out elaborate
gardens for the English royalty
and aristocracy.
The planters were a feature
for many of the gardens and
they still remain in most of them
today. As you see, the models I
have made are in mahogany and
white paint but other colors can
be used, such as light green or
blue. Note that the same method
applies to both styles of planter.
