The Relationship Of Knowledge and Attitude of Nurses for The


Implementation of Oral Hygiene in Stroke Patients in The Intensive Care
Unit and Inpatient Adult General Hospital Kepulauan Riau Provinsi
Tanjungpinang 2013

ABSTRACK

Oral hygiene is essential, poor oral hygiene among one of the causes of disease
sistemik (stroke). In oral and dental problems indonesia is still high as the age of
33-34 years, as much as 43,7% and over the age of 65 years as much as 96,7%.
Stroke patients in the ICU and inpatient adult general hospital kepulauan riau
provinsi tanjungpinang from march-september 2013 as much as 25%, while the
ICU nurses and adult inpatients who claimed never to oral hygiene as much as
40% of stroke patients with a lazy excuse 80% of ICU nurses and inpatient adult
nursing diploma III backgrounds.

Formulation of the problem is there a relationship of knowledge and attitude of


nurses for the implementation of oral hygiene in stroke patients in the intensive
care unit and inpatient adult general hospital kepulauan riau provinsi
tanjungpinang 2013. The purpose of this study was to determine the reletionship
of knowledge and attitude of nurses for the implementation of oral hygiene in
stroke patients in the intensive care unit and inpatient adult general hospital
kepulauan riau provinsi tanjungpinang 2013.

The result obtained from 30 ICU nurse and adult inpatient general hospital
kepulauan riau provinsi tanjungpiang 2013 which has a good level of knowledge
36,7% of stroke patients. Poor level knowledge as much as 63,3% nurses are
being positive about oral hygiene as much as 50% of stroke patient and nurses are
being negative about oral hygiene as much as 50% Of stroke patients. While the
implementation of oral hygiene nurses stroke patients with either 46,7% and
53,3% poor implementation. Having tested by chi-sguare obtained relationship
between knowledge (p=0,03) and attitudes (p=0,028) for the impementation of
oral hygiene in stroke patient. Researe hers suggest that the standad operating
prosedure (SOP) socialized oral hygiene and direct supervision to nurses with
nursing supervision
