CONRAD, Joseph. Heart of Darkness (1899, 1902). This
is widely available free on the internet.

The Study Guides for UNITS 1-4, included in the virtual


course are essential: they provide you with all the material
you need to successfully complete the course: critical texts,
study materials, self-assessment-exercises and answers.
The book by PETER BARRY provides reasonably accessible
introductions to literary and critical theory together with
practical examples of close critical readings of literary texts. It
will be used in conjunction with the rest of the study material.
EVALUATION SYSTEM

2 OPTIONS:
A) Take the exam only
Maximum total grade: 8

B) Exam (80%) + PEC (20%)
Maximum total grade: 10

EXAM
22nd January (11.30) / 5th February (18.30)

2 parts:
A) Test: 8 mulVple choice quesVons (a, b, c, d).
0,5 each (total: 4 points)
5/8 quesVons (min. to get the next part marked)

B) Text analysis (3 quesVons): contextualizaVon;
form and content; criVcism.
(Total: 4 points)

PEC
To inlcude the PEC in your global
grade you need to pass the exam.
Structure of the PEC = structure of
exam.
Units: 1 and 2.
