DESIGN OF CENTRALIZED AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IN MUNICIPAL OFFICE OF

GEN. EMILIO AGUINALDO, CAVITE

INTRODUCTION

Humans tend to find comfortability in their daily lives. From a time, humidity and

heat index greatly affects their comfort. With this, humans develop technologies that can

refurbish their comfort for a limit of time.

The innovations tend to improve the technologies used. Thats why different

devices were created to sustain and ensure comfort, especially on dry and humid times.

Air Conditioning, as defined by science, is a process that simultaneously

conditions air; distributes it combined with the outdoor aid to the conditioned space; and

at the same time controls and maintains the required spaces temperature, humidity, air

movement, air cleanliness, sound level and pressure differential within predetermined

limits for health and comfort of the occupants, for product processing, or both.

Air-conditioning systems have been used in many parts of the world. The

purpose of most systems is to provide thermal comfort and an acceptable indoor air

quality (IAQ) for occupants. With the improvement of standard of living, occupants

require more and more comfortable and healthful indoor environment. People spend 80-

90% of their time indoors, and indoor environment has important effects on human

health and work efficiency. It is fair to say that indoor environment problems still exist in

many air-conditioned and mechanically ventilated buildings, even though existing

standards may be met. Fresh air is reduced in air-conditioning systems in order to

reduce the energy consumption.

However, air conditioning units follow several qualifications in terms of technical

and environmental factors.

AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM COMPONENTS

An air-conditioning, also known as HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air-

Conditioning and Refrigerating) system consists of components and equipment

arranged in sequential order to heat or cool, humidify or dehumidify, attenuate

objectionable equipment noise, transport the conditioned outdoor air and re-circulate air

to conditioned space, and control and maintain an indoor or enclosed environment at

optimum energy use.

An air conditioning system generally consists of five mechanical components:

1. Compressor

2. Fan

3. Condenser Coil (Hot)

4. Evaporator Coil (Cool)

5. Chemical Refrigerant

LOCATION
The main establishment was located at Castaos Cerca, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo,

Cavite.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

This study aims to design a centralized air conditioning unit in municipal office of Gen.

Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite. It also wants to discuss the following:

Total heat load of the establishment

Supply specifications

Etc.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The study entitled, Design of Centralized Air Conditioning Unit in Municipal

Office of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite, was deemed significant for it benefits the

following sectors and group of persons.

To the Government, since the location of the study has been the municipal

office of Gen Emilio Aguinaldo; it will be one of the possible designs of HVAC that can

be applied not only to the establishment but also to different government infrastructures

that requires HVAC system.

To the commercial companies, this study can provide several ideas and

designs for new innovations that can further help in the near future.
To the University, this study will help to simply apply the vision of the University

which can lay new foundations for transforming Polytechnic University of the Philippines

into an epistemic community and to provide appropriate attention for the development of

the students, and to transform them to become more globally competitive.

To the future researchers, this study will surely help and serve as reference for

the future studies by providing them honest and adequate information.

To the students, this study will serve as their building block for developing better

and creative ideas about the research. Learning many times more about their field and

about what to expect from their career than what they have learned in lectures and

educational laboratories will also help them.

1. Extreme conditions such as heat and humidity can impact on our overall

physical intellectual activity, making even the simplest of tasks an absolute

chore. Having a proper air conditioning system in place helps reduce heat and

humidity, thus reducing the impact on our ability to perform and complete work

tasks.

2. The lower temperatures that air conditioners create can help reduce

dehydration as they lessen the likelihood of excessive sweating. However, there

is a footnote worth mentioning here, which we will discuss later in this article.

3. When the air conditioning system has been installed properly, it effectively

helps renew and improve air quality.
