Background : Disaster risk reduction is a mind concept of disaster management. Disaster risk
reduction is the responsibility of all citizens, including women. The role of women in disaster
risk reduction could be expected to be influenced by self-efficacy.
Purpose : This study aimed to determine the relation of self-efficacy on the role of women in
disaster risk reduction of eruption of Mount Slamet.
Methods : This study used a cross-sectional method. The sampling used cluster random
sampling. The numbers of samples are 116 respondents which is fulfilling the inclusion and
exclusion criteria. Data collected by using two questionnaires, those are the self-efficacy
questionnaire and the role of women questionnaire. Analyse data conducted by using Rank
Spearman test.
Results : Characteristics of respondents mostly early adulthood (62,1%), the last education is
elementary school (69%), and housewives (86,2%). The most level of women self-efficacy in
Melung village is high (72,4%). More than a half of the respondents had a moderate role in
disaster risk reduction of eruption of Mount Slamet in the Melung village (66,4%). Spearman
Rank statistic test shows there was significant relation between self-efficacy with the role of
women in disaster risk reduction eruption of Mount Slamet in the Village District Melung
Banyumas (p=0.000).
Conclusion : The enhancement of self-efficacy will followed by the increasing of women role
in disaster risk reduction of eruption of Mount Slamet.
