Jacking

This pageblock gives you the procedure to do:
Wheel jacking
2. Wheel jacking
REF. FIG. 201, REF. FIG. 202, REF. FIG. 203
A. General
Jack pads are a part of the base of the main and nose-gear shock-struts. They are used to lift
one side of the aircraft to change a wheel. Alternatively, you can change a wheel by moving the
aircraft up onto a ramp with the serviceable wheel on the ramp. You must then put chocks fore
and aft under the wheels of the other landing gears. The dimensions of a ramp for ground
clearance for a wheel change are:
B. Equipment
(1) Jack, wheel axle, ITEM ME-7-4925 or equivalent - 15 433 lbs (7000 kg) minimum capacity.
(2) Nose and main wheel chocks.
C. Material - None
D. Lifting
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND SAFETY PINS OF THE NOSE AND MAIN LANDING GEARS
ARE INSTALLED.
(1) Position a jack between the wheels on the side of the aircraft to be lifted. Make sure the
jack correctly aligns with the jack pad on the base of shock strut.
(2) Close the release valve of the jack and pressurize the jack until it lightly engages with the
jack adapter.
(3) Chock the wheels of the other two landing gears.
(4) Slowly lift the aircraft and, at the same time, turn the jack lock ring so it stays close to the
locked position. When the wheels are clear of the ground by the amount necessary, make
sure the lock ring is tight against the jack body.

E. Lowering
(1) Extend the jack a small amount to loosen its lock ring.
(2) Slowly open the release valve on the jack to permit the jack ram to retract with the weight
of the aircraft until the wheels touch the ground. Let the ram retract more until it is clear
of the jack pad.
(3) Remove the jack and put chocks under the wheels.

WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO LIFT THE AIRCRAFT IF IT WEIGHS MORE THAN 22 000 LBS (10 000
KG) (AIRCRAFT OPERATING EMPTY WEIGHT PLUS FUEL).
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND SAFETY PINS OF THE NOSE AND MAIN LANDING GEARS
ARE INSTALLED.
CAUTION: DO NOT LIFT THE AIRCRAFT OUTSIDE THE HANGAR UNLESS YOU HAVE NO
ALTERNATIVE. THERE MUST BE A HARD, LEVEL SURFACE WHEN YOU LIFT THE
COMPLETE AIRCRAFT. REMOVE LOOSE CARGO, TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT FROM THE
AIRCRAFT BEFORE YOU LIFT IT. MAKE SURE THE JACK ADAPTERS ARE INSTALLED
AT THE TWO WING POSITIONS AND AT THE ONE FUSELAGE NOSE POSITION AND
THAT ALL THREE ARE FULLY TIGHTENED.
(1) Install the jack adapters at STA 215.0 and WS 80.7 (RH and LH sides).
(2) Install the jacks under each jack adapter. Close the release valve of each jack and
pressurize it until it lightly engages with the jack adapter.
NOTE: There must be one person to operate each jack. Lubricate the jacking point
adapters if possible before you lift the aircraft.
(3) Slowly operate all three jacks at the same time. And while the jacks extend, turn the jack
lock rings so they stay near to the locked position. When the wheels are clear of the
ground by the necessary amount, make sure the lock rings are tight against the jack body.

NOTE: You will get a minimum jack extension of 24 in. (610 mm) when lifting the aircraft
in a level attitude.
(4) Install the tail stand at STA 608 to touch frame area but do not hold weight. Make sure
that the fuselage drain plugs are behind the tail stand ( REF. FIG. 204).
