Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the SRT activity, I will teach the students about various changes. I will introduce the topic with an
open-ended question about what the student thinks about when they hear the word change. Then I will have
the class determine what categories each students thought belongs. Some of the changes may be
environmental, but for the purpose of this lesson, I will make sure we limit the discussion to only physical and
chemical changes. After a few weeks reviewing videos, activities, and discussions over the differences in
physical and chemical changes, I will then introduce the SRT activity to assess what still needs to be reviewed
or retaught.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the SRT activity, each student will grab his or her assigned Plickers card. I will open the questions and
have the students hold up their Plickers card with the answer choice they are selecting at the top of the card.
I will then hold up the iPad and scan each students card choice. Once I have everyones answer recorded, I
will move on to the next question. This activity should only last about 15-20 minutes in the classroom. The
students will need their Plickers card, and I will need an iPad.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
This will allow students to check their progress and know immediately if they understand what we have been
learning. It will also allow me to tailor my lesson on the spot to cover topics the whole class may have
misunderstood.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the SRT activity, I will look at which questions were missed the most. From that data, I will be able to
compile a list of topics that I may need to reteach to the whole class. If the data shows only a few students
missed certain questions, then I will be able to give those students a little extra help when I have the class
working individually. If the whole class got all of the questions correct, I would be able to move on to the next
topic.

How will the data be used?

The data collected as a result of this activity will be used by me to determine which topics I need to reteach to
the whole class. I will also use these results to determine which students may have struggled completely and
need extra one on one aid. I will not use this activity to reward a grade, but I will use it to share the progress
with the individual student and parent. I will not use this data to share with the entire class. The data I collect
can help me differentiate instruction for those students who do not understand the material the first time
around.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
My personal learning goal for this activity is to try out Student Response and Assessment Tools. I hope I learn
how my students learn and think with various SRT. I also hope this will get my students more engaged in
classroom discussions, and it will help them on their tests.
