AMITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

In Collaboration with

National Conference on
Sustainable Development in India:
Economic Issues & Policy Initiatives
3rd 4th March 2016: Amity University Campus, Noida, Uttar Pradesh
About the Conference
Development theory has come a long way over the last century. It began with focus on economic growth and development,
and eventually has reached a stage where researchers, governments and academia are looking at more holistic patterns of living
than merely growth. Sustainable development, eventually, has become the most important notion of the day, and provides
a more comprehensive definition of development, linking up ecological services and quality of life with economic growth.
Such a paradigm shift in a phase of less than a century is no less than a revolution.

The onus is upon UN to replace the Millennium Development Goals with Sustainable Development Goals. Change yourself,
instead of changing the environment to suit your needs. Amity School of Economics takes this up for India in particular under the
Make in India mission of Hon. Prime Minister and is organizing a two day National Conference on Sustainable Development
in India: Economic Issues and Policy Initiatives in collaboration with CII-ITC, a center for Sustainable Development.

Objectives
The conference focuses at addressing the issue of Sustainable development and more specifically aims to achieve the following:

1. To offer a national platform for the professionals, researchers and academicians to share their intellectual expertise and
research acumen
2. To encourage and motivate young budding research scholars to understand the intricacies of Sustainable development
and undertake the challenges of working on this paradigm.
3. To identify specific inter-regional needs and build consensus that would help India to attain sustainable development
4. To suggest Economic policy initiatives in regard to sustainable development for India.
