COMPRESSOR COUPLING ADAPTER
1. PLANNING INFORMATION

A. Effectivity
(1) Engines
All Rolls-Royce M2509 --C20, and --B17 Series engines are affected by this bulletin.
(2) Spares -- Not affected
B. Reason
To provide an extended compressor coupling adapter for all Series II engine models which will
provide improved spline wear characteristics. Additionally, this modification can also be utilized
to repair impellers with worn/damaged splines or snap ring grooves.
C. Description
Incorporation of the extended coupling adapter (23076559), requires a new spur adapter
gearshaft (23031922), a new impeller (23058147), a new internal retaining ring (6726656--90)
and a new split seal piston ring (23039060). This change results in the reidentification of the
compressor rotor assembly from (23057108) to (23058143). A rework procedure is described in
this bulletin to modify the impeller from (23057117) and (6876873) to the new part number
configurations.
D. Approval
Technical aspects are FAA approved.

E. Compliance
Compliance Code 6. To be complied with no later than next overhaul when compressor impeller
is replaced or earlier as a repair, following parts availability.

M. Prerequisites
Impeller part number 6876873 must have CEB--1321 applied before this rework.

2. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A. Impeller (6876873 or 23057117) can be reworked from the original configuration to impeller
(23058147) (Ref. Fig. 1 and 2).
(1) Machine 2.170 in. (55.12 mm) dimension to 1.578 -- 1.588 in. (40.08 -- 40.34 mm).
(2) Machine 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) x 45 chamfer.
(3) Break all sharp edges on reworked dimensions 0.010 in. (0.25 mm).
(4) Do an inspection of the reworked dimension.
(a) FPI the impeller rear face and shaft.
(b) Reidentify the reworked impeller by obliterating the old P/N and adding the new P/N
per AS 478--2D1 or 2E.
(5) After final machining, glass bead peen areas AA and AB. No metal removal or stress
relief operations permitted subsequent to peening. Peening of other surfaces permissible
but need not meet intensity requirements. All drawing requirements must be met after
peening (Ref. EPS 12006) (Ref. Fig. 2).
B. Record compliance with this commercial engine bulletin in the applicable section of the engine
logbook, compressor assembly (blue pages), Part III, Modification Record as applicable with the
