I am very interested in the Communications & Community Relations Internship, job ID 455, advertised on
Rhodynet. I am a senior at the University of Rhode Island, pursuing a degree in Journalism, with a
Communication Studies minor. This opportunity has sparked my interest with the relationship and impact that
digital media has with the public. I would be extremely excited to work with Blue Cross & Blue Shield and gain
more knowledge of the industry.
As the Social Media Intern for the Friends of Fort Point Channel, I ran their various social media accounts
including but not limited to their Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest with the goal to increase their
social media presence and to spread the organizations mission and purpose. As a writer for the University of
Rhode Island Good 5 Cent Cigar Newspaper, it was required to generate story ideas, write a minimum of one
article a week, while conducting research, setting up interviews and taking photographs to accompany the
articles. This allowed me to develop writing and photography skills, while adhering to short deadlines.
I am very confident that my previous education, experiences and skills would allow me to be a great intern with
Blue Cross & Blue Shield. My excellent time management skills, organizational skills and willingness to learn
would allow me to be an asset to help Blue Cross & Blue Shield improve its digital media presence and enhance
the community outreach programs. I look forward to hearing from you and discussing my qualifications. Thank
you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Alix Bryant
