Kyle Teto Dream Job 9/6/17

A dream job of mine would be to have a career in the hedge fund industry. A hedge fund
is a high risk investment vehicle used by the largest investors that generate the largest potential
returns in the investment industry, if they are top performers. Unlike like more regulated
investment vehicles like mutual funds, hedge funds try to be market neutral and achieve high
returns regardless of the worlds overall economic performance. Some of the largest hedge
funds include Bridgewater Associates, AQR Capital Management, JPMorgan Asset
Management, and Renaissance Technologies. (Chaparro, n.d.) An entry level job in this industry
would be as a hedge fund analyst. A profile of the responsibilities of a hedge fund analyst would
include, maintaining models for current and prospective companies in the fund, researching
data and generating investment ideas, analyzing financial markets and institutional investors,
preparing client proposals and presentations, and developing a deep knowledge of your hedge
funds assigned strategy. The level of education required is preferably a masters degree.
(Nigudkar, n.d.)
This level of education seems a bit excessive and it seems unnecessary to require a
masters degree however it may be helpful given that extensive knowledge and skillset required
for a successful career in the hedge fund industry. The classes I will take at Nichols will help get
me experience in understanding the world of finance and provide me with the knowledge
needed to take on the many responsibilities of a career in this industry. The world of hedge
fund management is one that is requiring more experience so it is important to get into a job
