Significant Earthquakes from 1900 through 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

This is a map showing the significant earthquakes that in Ho Chi Minh City from 1900
through 2014. The size of the circle and the color represent the magnitude of each earthquakes
that occurred through 1900to 2014. As the Observe, there are no data that show Ho Chi Minh
City and even Vietnam had have earthquakes occurred, from 1900 to 2014. Referring to the map,
the map is also showing the earths major tectonic plates at the lithosphere, and the tectonic of
plates causes movement activities, which cause earthquakes. Indeed, Ho Chi Minh City is land
on the middle of the Eurasian plate, which it did not nearby any edges or plate boundary, hence,
it will be less probability to occur significances earthquakes. However, according to Thanh Nien
News, on the northern Vietnam, Hanoi, has low to moderate seismicity but some fault systems,
such as the Red River, the Ma River and the Lai Chau Dien Bien area ( Thanh Nien News), and
the fault lines likely stretch several hundred kilometers and slip rates range from 0.5 to 2mm a
year, which cause unharmful earthquakes and happened very rarely.
Significant Earthquakes from 1900 through 2014 in Vietnam and Philippines

The map showing that Vietnam did not have any significance earthquakes, whereas
Philippines have many significant earthquakes. From the data shown, the size of the circle and
the color of the symbols are showing the levels of the earthquakes and how did big the area was
affected. As we can see from the map, Philippines were having different kind of earthquakes
from the lowest 5 magnitude to nearly the highest 8 magnitude. Philippines is also on the
Eurasian plates, which same as Vietnam, however, obviously Philippines is a way closer to the
plate boundaries than Vietnam. According to the map, Philippines is nearby the plate boundaries,
which contains the Eurasian plates and the Philippines sea plates. The reasons why Philippines
occurred many earthquakes is due to the Philippines fault system and Philippine mobile belt,
which meaning that Philippines is formed by a complex tectonic. Whenever the two plates are
having movement, the area around the plates boundaries will be affected and occurred
earthquakes. Indeed, having earthquakes actually is not a big deal if it's occurred on an area that
no living species lives there. However, when it happens in a place that full of buildings and
people, it will be a hazard. Since earthquakes will causes harms towards human, by damaging the
buildings that people living in, landslides that might hurt people and animals, and caused
numbers of casualties and community loss. Nothing can stop what happened in the nature, but
there are many ways to avoid most of the damage and loss. For example, government should
send out the warning once they alert earthquakes will be happen, people should have educated
what they should do when the earthquakes occurred, and there are many ways to avoid the
damage that caused by the earthquakes.
Significant Earthquakes from 1900 through 2014 in four Plate Tectonics

The map is showing the significance earthquakes that occurred from 1900 to 2014 in the
four plates tectonics. The four plates included Eurasian, Philippine Sea, Pacific, and Australian.
By the observation, earthquakes occurred all along the plate boundary, and seriously occurred in
Philippine and Japan. Theres a pattern of occurred earthquakes that happened from the upper
center which is Japan on top of the plate boundary between Pacific and Philippine Sea, followed
by the plate boundary between Eurasian and Philippine Sea, all along to the bottom of the plate
boundary between Pacific and Australian. This pattern is a part of Ring of Fire, the Ring of
Fire is a major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions occur. ( Wikipedia ) Indeed, there are earthquakes that are not occurred on
the plate boundary, but it is the fact that compare with those occurred on the plate boundary
theyre magnitude scale were lower, which is 5 magnitude scale, whereas the earthquakes that
occurred on the plate boundary is up to 8 magnitude.
