SPINNING AROUND
Weve all experienced the emotional crevasse left in our lives when
a favourite TV show comes to an end. (Hands up whos still watching
SATC reruns as part of their Sunday morning hangover repair kit?) Which
is why were delighted that TV execs have declared spin shows the next
big thing. What are they? No prizes for guessing theyre basically spin-
offs of our favourite series. This September, The Big Bang Theory throws
in a follow-up, Young Sheldon, HBO are currently working on not one, but
FOUR Game Of Thrones offshoots, and a spin-off of Jude Laws The Young
Pope, called The New Pope, is in the pipeline with Sky and HBO. The dream?

the best way to apply your scent is with a brush. Why?
Because rubbing your wrists post-application annihilates
all the top notes, and besides, declares Jo, using a brush
is a far more demure way to distribute scent across skin.
Sure, shes selling highly strokable Jo Loves Fragrance

your fragrance onto a foundation or paint brush. Just

BACK TO SEX SCHOOL

If the idea of sex ed brings up traumatic memories of watching your form teacher roll
a purple condom over a Sainsburys banana, youll be pleased to hear its smartened up its act.
Bath College now offers a Level-2 accredited course in Sexual Happiness that covers everything
from sexual identity to toys and, we imagine, a lot in between. Meanwhile, the hippest new
social gathering on the streets of east London is Sex Ed for Grown Ups a monthly
workshop series taught by scientists and historians. Now whos a clever dick?

I love Casper with all my heart

Aniek, 24, is a student from Germany

I was on a night out in Hackney about three years

ago when I noticed that the bartender, Casper, was
really hot. I ordered a drink from him and straight
away we started flirting. He made me laugh so
much, and we were getting on so well, we swapped numbers.
Casper was chasing me a little, which I liked, and after a
bit of flirty texting, we met up for drinks. On our first date,
Casper was such a gentleman hed open doors for me and
pull back my chair. I found him very charming. After we
left the bar, he grabbed hold of my hand and kissed me.
Things moved quickly after that it was exciting and
I loved how attentive he was. We had an amazing time

wed have to break up, so it wouldnt have been fair.
As my leaving date got nearer, Id get upset, but we wanted
to be realistic and respect each other, so we tried not to talk
about it unless we had to. It was hard, and there was a lot left
unsaid. We also agreed that we wouldnt speak again once
I was back in Germany, and we pretty much kept to that.
The date was flirty and fun, and we laughed all evening.

Casper, 25, is an advertising executive from Windsor

I was at my bar job when this extremely attractive

girl came over to order a drink. It was loud, so I
couldnt really hear what she was saying, which gave
me an opportunity to have a joke with her. Aniek
is German and I spoke a little of the language, so we had
something to vibe off, and I managed to get her number.
Later that week, we went on a date and got on really well.
She came back to mine afterwards and, from there, things got
fairly intense. At first, we both tried to be casual about it, but
it quickly turned into something else when we saw each
other it was usually for several days at a time. Were both
fiercely practical, but our relationship worked because we
brought out the romantic side in each other. Wed have lots of
in-jokes and speak in German in public, so people couldnt
understand us. It was like having our own little club.
We never said we loved each other. We were so concerned
with keeping things relaxed because Aniek was leaving, so we
were quite coy about it. I was thinking it, though. But now,
Ive had to push any feelings I may have had under the carpet.
I remember walking her to the station on the morning of
her flight. It felt surreal we were both trying to pretend it
wasnt happening. If wed known shed have been moving
back to London, maybe things would have been different.
Over dinner, we were definitely flirting. Beforehand,
we were both afraid of doing
anything just the two of us, in Would you see her again?
