JOB SATISFACTION

What Are the Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction?

1.) Working Conditions - Optimizing working conditions affect the performance of an


employee. In order to do that there are things to be considered such as providing
spacious work areas, adequate lighting and comfortable work stations. And
providing productivity tools will help the employees to accomplish tasks more
efficiently and contributes to their job satisfaction as well. (paragraph 2)
2.) Opportunity for Advancement - An employee wants to move into higher position
to be given with higher responsibility along with an increase in salary. Developing
advanced skills, exhibiting efficiency in pleasant manner, and good communication
can lead to promotion. (paragraph 3)
3.) Workload and Stress Level -Workload that is too heavy and deadlines that are
impossible to accomplish can cause dissatisfaction to the employee and employer.
Caused by ineffective management of time and poor planning of an employee; or
employers do not allow enough time for employees to perform their tasks
effectively. (paragraph 4)
4.) Respect from Co-Workers Employees seek respect to other co-workers as well. A
rude or unpleasant environment can lead to lower satisfaction in work. Managers or
human resources need to take action to their employee that needs disciplinary
action. (paragraph 5)
5.) Relationship with Supervisors - Employees need some recognition and praise for
their accomplishments, good performance and effort from the
managers/supervisors. And always open for their concerns about their jobs.

6.) Financial Rewards - Companies must have mechanism to evaluate their employees
and to know there performance and provide wage increase. Opportunities to earn
special incentives or compensation, such as bonuses, extra paid time off or
vacations, also bring excitement and higher job satisfaction to the workplace.

Pros and Cons of Private Hospitals and Public Hospitals

1.) Private Hospitals


a.) Pros - Are more equipped with advanced technology, the assistance for patients
is better compared to public hospitals, offer amenities, wait times tend to be
short, and doctor-to-patient ratios are usually excellent.
b.) Cons - They tend to be more expensive, they can refuse to admit anyone who
cannot be able to pay, accept limited form of insurance, and have less numbers of
beds. (paragraph 4-5)
2.) Public Hospitals
a.) Pros - Are more cheaper, cannot refuse to ill patients, and have a lot more beds.
b.) Cons - Assistance and personalized care for the patients is poor especially in
Emergency Room, wherein it depends on the nature of your needs. Even though
they have a lot of staffs, giving personal care in short period of time is uncertain.

1.) Intramural - Hospitals performs its services in its territory or own premises.
a.) OPD (Out Patient Department) like a daycare in which patients do not need to
much care in the hospital.
b.) IPD (Patient Department) Care for the sick/injured people.
c.) Diagnostics Medical procedure to diagnose the disease of the patient.
d.) Emergency Services Deals with emergency cases.
e.) Teaching and Education For teaching and training of nurses and paramedical

2.) Extramural Hospitals that performs its services outside or surrounding areas.
a.) Health Camps Held by hospital in rural places, schools, etc.
b.) Health Promotion Service conducted by hospitals in villages and rural areas.

1.) Direct forms of compensation


a.) Salary Type of wage that is used mostly to pay professionals or licensed
employees.
b.) Hourly Used to pay unskilled or skilled laborers in the laborforce. There is no
guarantee of a regular cycle of pay because of uncertain times of workloads.
c.) Commission Based on volume of services or performance on sales where they
compensation is calculated. Usually industries used this type of compensation to
get a minimum standard of production.
d.) Bonuses Used to increase performance of an employee or incentivize them to
a particular goal whether time or volume based. Some use this to retain the skills

2.) Indirect Forms of Compensation
a.) Benefits It is in form of insurance and retirement. It can provide retention and
recruitment of employees.
b.) Equity Based Programs It is not commonly used because of its sophistication
and complexity wherein, the employee is tied into the company via ownership.

WORK PERFORMANCE

Factors Affecting Employee Performance

1.) Managerial Standards Managers should keep in mind that their expectations
should meet the required standards be in line with duties assigned to the employee.
Expecting too much in an employee can lessen the work performance of an
employee. (paragraph 2)
2.) Motivation An employee seeks motivation to make their work productive and
more efficient. And motivation can come in the form of the opportunity they may get
in the institution, direct involvement from management in daily basis, and etc.

3.) Commitment Commitment shown by the company is returned in the form also of
commitment from an employee. As long as the company provides the needs of the
employees, the employees will do its job in most efficient manner. (paragraph 4)
4.) Employee Evaluation Done by the employer to point out both positive and
negative areas of which the employee may or may not be aware throughout the
years. This is important to know the ongoing performances of employees.
