My Story...

My name is Francis Clavano, I am an Electrical Engineer

by profession working in one of the prestigious company
here in Davao City.

But last January 2016, I resigned from work because I

wanted to pursue my passion in entrepreneurship.

When I was an employee I ventured to a lot of businesses,

Sadly, lahat nalugi.

All of them did not succeed because I did not have the
right knowledge and skills to run a business. All I know is
to work for somebody and I have no experience in
handling a business.

One of the reasons also why my businesses did not

succeed is because I have a limited time to focus on them
as I am a full-time employee at that time.

So I lost a lot of money and I also gained lots of debt.

I lost almost 1 million pesos from my savings and credit

cards.

But I did not stop in pursuing and achieving my dream of

having a profitable business.
 Online Grocery Business
Aside from being an engineer, one of my hobbies is
coding and creating websites.

After losing all my money, I planned to create an e-

commerce business.

At first, I wanted to copy the concept of Lazada selling

non-consumable products like bags, shoes, and jewellery.

But it's not viable because I will need to invest a huge

amount as capital for this kind of venture for the initial
stocks of the items to be sold

Aside from that, I will also need a storage room to rent

where I could store those items which requires monthly
expenses for the rental fee.

I can't afford all of these as I just lost a lot of money from

my previous businesses. Until I came to a point of getting
into selling groceries online.

So I created an e-commerce website for my online

grocery venture, I uploaded all the details of the grocery
item of the nearest grocery store, once the customer
orders it that's the time I only buy the grocery items and
deliver.

In this way, I won't need a capital for initial stocks and I

won't need monthly expenses for space rental.
 Online Grocery Business

Last June 2015, I started my online grocery business here

in Davao City.

I called it "Davao Groceries".

What's great about this kind of business is that it helps a

lot of people who have no time to go to supermarkets to
buy their grocery needs.

Right now I already have more than 400 customers in my

online grocery business who regularly buys from me
monthly.

Computing for my income, these 400 customers order an

average amount of 3,000 pesos monthly and I earn a net
profit of 10% from it. So,

400 x 3,000 x 10% = 120,000 pesos monthly

Imagine that it only needs at least 400 customers to make

more than 100,000 pesos monthly income.

Most of my customers are OFWs and guess what I found

out... There are over 10 million OFWs all around the world
and you only need 400 of them to make a lot of money in
this business!

WHAT A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY FOR US!!!

 You Can Do It Too

Moreover, OFWs prefers more on security and

convenience for their family rather than finding which
supermarkets offer cheaper prices of groceries. Thus,
you can give them a reasonable markup amount on your
prices and earn much bigger profits.

Now, what makes online grocery business more profitable

is that we also have those who are working in BPOs or in
hospitals who do not have time to go to a supermarket to
buy their grocery needs.

And... there are also people, like OFWs, whose concerns

lay a lot on convenience rather than prices. They are
those who are more opulent individual or rich people
living in a high-end subdivision.

So if you can have this kind of business, theres no reason

you wont succeed because you only need 400 people out
of those millions of individuals I mentioned above to make
a lot of money.

Now, here's my good news for you - this business I am

doing right now could be yours too!

And I'm going to show you how to do it in 10 simple steps.

So read further and I'll explain it to you.
 Step 1. Think It As A Help

OFWs are the one who will greatly benefit from this kind of
service.

Imagine what a relief for them that instead of sending

money to their family, where in some instances their
family might not use the money properly, they can just
send groceries through your online store.

Since I started my online grocery I always receive a

"thank you" message from them.

One time one of my OFW customers ordered groceries for

her family, and asked me to make it as a surprise to them
by delivering the grocery items without their knowledge.

It touches my heart as my business touches the hearts of

her family when I arrived and delivered the grocery items.

In order to succeed in this kind of business you must

always put in your mind that this is not just a profit
generating venture but a help to every Filipino.

 Step 2. Make It As A
Budget Solution Business

para sa pamilya ninyo sa Davao City, or nahihirapan po

Though you cannot beat the prices from the supermarket,

especially kung at first sa kanila ka kukuha ng supply, but
it is a big saving for OFW. Instead of paying for big amount
of service fee in the remittances for sending money to
their loved ones, they can save more if you have an online
grocery business and directly deliver groceries to their
family.
 Step 3. Make Deliveries Time Manageable

The best thing when it comes to delivering orders is that it

can be done days after a customer had checked out.

In my online grocery, I usually deliver orders every 3 days.

So lahat ng orders from day 1 to day 3 ay sabay-sabay ko
na denideliver on the 3rd day.

With this, you can save a lot of expenses on fuel and

manpower. But of course, if its possible to deliver within
the same day, customers will be much happier. Like my
customer Ryze Hibbert, here's what she says;

"Maraming salamat sa pag-deliver ng order ko para sa

aking family, Davao Groceries, Nag order ako 12mn sa
Pinas and nadeliver by 3pm. Salamat and more power."

It just so happen that she orders this on the same day I am

delivering (on the 3rd day).
 Step 4. Consider Yourself As An
"Online Kasambahay"

The service you can give to your customers is like you as

their "Kasambahay". One of the online groceries which
operate in Lucena City called her store "Happy Helper".

It is because you provide help especially to opulent

individual or those who are rich people.

Most of these people hire helpers who can do the chore of

buying groceries, but not anymore if they have access on
your online grocery business. Great savings and help for
these types of individuals.
 Step 5. Prepare Your Maps

When you are operating your online grocery business

make sure you have a map application.

I use a mobile app called maps.me as a guide to locate my

customers accurately so I can deliver orders faster.

Because of this, one of my customers named Raymund

and very friendly and accommodating ang delivery crew.

 Step 6. Identify A Supermarket Near You

I started my online grocery business by getting grocery

products only once customer orders and pays it in my
website.

I buy groceries at a nearby supermarket.

But I make sure that the supermarket where I bought the

items gives me the lowest price possible.

You can easily identify it in your location. If you see a

grocery store na medyo luma na, for sure mas mura yung
prices nila because they can't compete with modern
supermarkets like Ayala and SM.

Here's the exact grocery store where I get my supplies.

 The E-Supplier Platform
The problem in getting supplies from supermarket is that
you will be the one who will manually pick the items, pack
it and pay it in the cashier at SRP price. You need to put a
mark-up price for the groceries as profit which makes
your items more expensive that turn customers into
buying from the supermarket instead in you.

Aside from that, once you have the items, youll also need
to deliver it. You need to have a car or you need to tap a
courier company to do the deliveries.

But not anymore because of the E-Supplier Platform - a

platform that will find suppliers for you. You only need to
access this platform and you can find a list containing the
contact information of all the suppliers available in your
area.

Once you have an agreement with a supplier, you can get

big discounts from them while selling grocery items at a
Suggested Retail Price or SRP. You don't need to put
additional mark-up prices which enables you to beat your
competitors especially big supermarkets.

Another thing is that suppliers may also do the packing

and delivery for you. You can totally have a business
doing it at the comfort of your home because you don't
need to do the physical part of packing and delivery

But what if suppliers won't deliver and what if you don't
have a car?

 Step 7. Have An E-Commerce Website

You can acquire an e-commerce website from Shopify,

Wix.com, or Bigcommerce.com. But you need to pay a
monthly fee for these services.

If you also hire a web programmer to work on an e-

commerce site for you, youre going to spend around
50,000 pesos to 100,000 pesos.

The good thing if you start an online grocery business

now, you don't need to find an e-commerce website
provider and pay for their services.

 Step 8. Upload All Grocery Item
Details Into Your Website

To sell grocery items online you need to put grocery items

details into your website.

Details must include the item names, item descriptions,

prices, categories, lane numbers and of course its
pictures.

However you don't need to take all the pictures, you can
just search it in Google.

Then if you have the details, you upload it in your e-

commerce website. But be ready because this step
requires you a massive effort and time.

When I do it in my online grocery business it took me

almost 6 months to finish uploading all the grocery items.
Imagine that there are over 45,000 items that you need to
upload. That's a lot of stuff to do!

But here's the good news, in my online training where I

personally teach people how to do online grocery

 Step 9. Make Your Business Sell Itself

Here's the exciting part of having an online grocery

Confused?...

I only directly invited 82 of them. But the 338 was invited

by my existing 82 customers to buy in my online grocery
regularly.
