CoCoS 1000 – V 2.02

1 Introduction / Software Description

1.1 General
The CoCoS Contamination Control Software (referred to below as CoCoS) enables the
CS 1000 to be operated in a convenient manner.
It is also used to operate and perform exports from CS 1000 units networked by an RS-485
bus (max. of 26 CS 1000 units possible).
The CoCoS 1000 PC software pack is freeware.
The software is supplied on a CD which comes standard with the CS 1000 and CSI-D-5
Condition Sensor Interface. (CoCoS 1000 PC software = part/no. 3251484).
The current version of the CoCoS 1000 software is available for download from our website:
www.hydac.com => Download => Software => Servicetechnik => CoCoS 1000

The CoCoS 1000 software is always backwards compatible. This means that the latest
version of the CoCoS 1000 software supersedes all previous versions and that all CS 1000
units can be operates and exports made from them using small firmware modules.

1.3 About This Operating Manual

These operating instructions explain the use of the two CoCoS 1000 software versions.
The current version of the CoCoS 1000 software is available for download from our website:
www.hydac.com
In order to keep the instructions simple, the software is explained using examples with
individual CS 1000 types and the CoCoS 1000.

In this manual it is assumed that the user has a working knowledge of Windows 2000,
ME, XP and that one of these Windows versions is installed.

2.2 CS 1000 in the RS-485 Bus

The CS 1000 possesses an RS-485 interface which is to be used as a two-wire interface in
half-duplex operation.
The number of CS 1000 units is restricted to 26 per RS-485 bus, as HECOM bus addressing
is done via letters A – Z.
The length of the bus line and the size of the terminating resistance are dependent on the
quality of the cable used.
The graphic below shows several CS 1000 units connected via the RS-485 interface and
then connected in turn to a PC.

2.4 CSI-D-5 Driver Installation

Before installing the software package, the CSI-D-5 must be installed.
1) Connect the CSI-D-5 to the CS 1000 and to the power supply as shown in section 2.3.2.
2) Connect the adapter box to your PC via the USB cable. Your PC shows you the new
hardware.

If no matching driver is installed, it has to be selected from the CoCoS 1000 CD or unzipped
in the zip download file in the /7561 folder.

The CoCoS 1000 setup makes a note of the USB port during installation.

Disk
Insert the CD labeled 'USB-Serial Cable Diskette' in your CD-ROM drive (E:) and then click
"OK".
Also click "OK" if you want to copy files from a path, e.g. from a disk or a network server.

Insert the CD with the CoCoS 1000 PC software or select folder /7561 from the unzipped
download file, followed by pressing .
3) Select the letter of the CD-RM drive or select folder /7561 from the unzipped download
file.

3.3.1 CS 1000 font not installed.
• While installing CoCoS 1000 the font CS 1000.fft is installed in the respective directory.
Sometimes problems occur subsequent to installation, causing the following error to be
shown in the display of the CoCoS 1000.

If the display shows different characters, the CS font has to be installed manually.
• The typeface CS 1000-Liteon Standard (CS1000-Liteon.ttf) is installed under Control
Panel -> Fonts. When asked, press to overwrite the TFF file already installed.
