Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? How will student learning be assessed? How will
the final product be used to inform/differentiate learning? How will you extend the student learning to a
higher learning level? How will you conclude the lesson? How will you provide feedback to students about
their work? MINIMUM 2 paragraph overview.
As I begin this lesson, I will make sure I can relay the information first to the students necessary for them to
play the game. I will first go over the three branches of government. I will talk about the executive, legislative,
and judicial branches. I will then make sure that I teach them the roles of all three and what they are all
responsible for. I may write the three branches on the board for them or create little models for them. Next
to each branch will be the different roles the need to know for each one.

After about 15 minutes or so of going over the branches roles, I will introduce the game to them. I will show
them that they need to put each responsibility into the appropriate branch. I will be able to assess the
students learning by the score they receive on the matching game.
I will conclude this lesson by asking the students if they have any questions about the information or if they
have anything to add. I could extend this lesson to a higher learning level by having the students answer
questions about specific scenarios and see if they understand the full concept of each of the branches and get
more into depth.
