Lesson Plan Student Teaching

Name: Cooperating Teacher: Cooperating Teacher Initial Here________

Lesson Date: School: Grade Level: Setting:
Subject/Topic: Teaching Model: University Supervisor Initial Here________
Teaching Objective (ABCDE): MODIFICATIONS/ACCOMMODATIONS
Given part part whole format the student will add 6 different equation with 70% accuracy.
IEP Objective(s):
By May 2018, the student will memorize basic addition and subtraction facts up to 20 with a minimum of 70% accuracy
TEKS:
Math 1.3B
(3) Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to develop and use strategies for whole number
addition and subtraction computations in order to solve problems. The student is expected to:

(B) use objects and pictorial models to solve word problems involving joining, separating, and comparing sets within 20 and
unknowns as any one of the terms in the problem such as 2 + 4 = [ ]; 3 + [ ] = 7; and 5 = [ ] - 3;
Background Information:
The student is able to count the numbers and knows numbers up to 50.
Materials:
Expo markers, clear mat and part part whole work sheet.
Equipment:
N/A
Classroom Management/Environment:
The student will use the small group rules and seatwork rules as an example; use soft voices, respect each other,
participate, raise hand etc. The class will be at the group tables for the entire time.
Engagement/Focus:
Good morning! (the student) How are you today? I am fine. Great! Today what would you like to work for? Putty, beanbag toss or wiki
sticks (wax sticks). The student picks the reward and then we begin for the lesson. Lets review what we learned yesterday before we
begin.
Student Objective (Today you will be able to___.):
Today you will be able to add numbers together.
Purpose of the Lesson (This information is important because___.):
It will help you to keep up with your toys. When mommy gives you two more toys you will add two more to
your collection thats why it is important to know how to add.
Explanation/Procedures (Relate to prior knowledge; describe what you will teach & model, what the students are to do with you,
and what they are to do independently (I do, We do, You do); must include higher level questions you will answer):
I will use the part part whole chart and demonstrate how to work the chart. Then do a transition to the clear
mat which has the number sentence. We do: the student and I will do two problems together. You do the
student will independently do at least one problem on his own with little support.
Extension (what will you do to go deeper into this topic):
The student will do addition without the blocks.
Elaboration (what else might you need to do/say to teach this skill/concept):
The student will the just work on concrete level for addition.
Closure (objective & purpose are restated; address how are you going to include the students in this):
Here is you (reward) (play time) then clean up. Lets do one more problem before we leave (1+3) You have done a
great job today! I am so impressed that you were able to add the numbers together. Tomorrow we will work more
with addition and improve in you adding skills.
Assessment (how will you know when the student knows the information or can do the skill youve taught) :
The student will solve some addition problems with 70% accuracy.
